Barcelona Atop Champions League Odds

Barcelona Atop Champions League Odds

After giving up just four total goals in six matches en route to a first-place finish in Champions League group stage action, Barcelona moves on to the Round of 16 pegged as a +300 favorite to claim this year’s crown.

Barca capped off the group stage with its fourth clean sheet victory in six Champions League outings, knocking off Monchengladbach by a 4-0 score on the strength of a second-half hat trick by Arda Turan. Barcelona finished atop Group C with a 5-0-1 record.

The 2015 Champions League winners have played outstanding football at all levels of competition in recent weeks, going undefeated in 10 straight games. However, they will face stiff competition in their Round of 16 matchup with Paris Saint-Germain, which gets underway at Parc des Princes on February 14.

The defending Ligue 1 champions went 3-3-0 during the group stage, but had to settle for a second-place finish behind Arsenal in Group A and trail on the Champions League odds at +3300.

PSG has enjoyed considerable success in the Champions League Round of 16, advancing in each of its past five appearances. Paris Saint-Germain struggled against Barca in the 2015 quarterfinals, though, losing both legs of that matchup.

Bayern Munich Second on Futures List

Bayern Munich capped off group stage action with a 1-0 victory over Group C winner Atletico Madrid, avenging last year’s semifinal loss to its Spanish rival, and remains second only to Barcelona with +400 odds to win the Champions League.

Bayern also dropped a 3-2 decision to FK Rostov during the group stage but enters January on a tear, winning six straight matches in all competitions, including four straight clean sheet victories.

Real Madrid closed out the group stage with a disappointing 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund that cost it first place in Group F, but the defending champions remain among the odds leaders on the Champions League futures at +450.

Los Blancos avoided drawing a Round of 16 match with a powerhouse club, and instead will face Group B winner Napoli, which is making its first Champions League Round of 16 appearance in five years. Napoli trails the favorites with +6600 odds.

Atletico Madrid leads the middle of the pack at +800, just ahead of Manchester City, which struggled with just two group stage wins, and enters the knockout stage at +1000. Borussia Dortmund sits alongside Juventus at +1200, well ahead of Arsenal, which trails at +2200 despite finishing first in Group A with a 4-2-0 record.

Sevilla sits at +4000, just ahead of Leicester City at +5000 and AS Monaco at +8000, while FC Porto lags at +10000, and Bayer Leverkusen joins Benfica at a distant +15000.
