NFL Week 12 Betting Preview
Last week featured a ton of wild NFL betting action, with several entertaining games and a few shocking upsets. The AFC standings remain incredibly tight with all but four teams above .500, however, the NFC is a bit more spaced out with the wild card race starting to heat up. There are several intriguing betting matchups scheduled for Week 12 in the NFL, including the league’s grand tradition of football on Thanksgiving Day. Let’s take a look at a few of the games slated for this week, along with their current betting odds at Bovada Sportsbook.
Week 12 NFL Previews
Chicago Bears (-3.5) at Detroit Lions (+3.5)
Thanksgiving football opens with an ugly betting matchup between two struggling teams; the 3-7 Bears may be without rookie QB Justin Fields as he deals with bruised ribs, whilst the Lions’ QB Jared Goff is also questionable. It’s rare to see Chicago listed as road favorites, however, that’s what happens when you face the 0-9-1 Lions. Detroit are yet to win a game this season, but may offer some betting value as they’re a respectable 6-4 against the spread.
Pittsburgh Steelers (+4.5) at Cincinnati Bengals (-4.5)
The 5-4-1 Steelers are coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Chargers on Sunday Night Football and will look to pull off the upset in Cincinnati. Pittsburgh’s hobbled defense should get a boost from LB TJ Watt returning to the lineup and they’ll need to get after Bengals QB Joe Burrow for a chance to win. The Bengals improved to 6-4 last week with a solid bounce-back victory over the Raiders, and will be looking to be victorious again in order to keep pace with the Ravens in the AFC North.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-3) at Indianapolis Colts (+3)
Led by the ageless Tom Brady, the defending Super Bowl champs returned to form in last week’s 30-10 thrashing of the Giants. The Bucs lead the NFC South with a 7-3 record but have been unreliable from a betting perspective, going just 4-6 against the spread. After a slow start, Indianapolis find themselves 6-5 on the year but have picked up the pace in recent weeks winning five of their last six. Colts RB Jonathan Taylor put up five touchdowns last week but will face a stiff test versus Tampa’s top ranked run defense.
Tennessee Titans (+6.5) at New England Patriots (+6.5)
Despite last week’s humiliating loss to the Texans, the 8-3 Titans still own the best record in the AFC but will need better play from QB Ryan Tannehill after tossing four interceptions last game. Having won five straight games, New England is the hottest team in the NFL right now leading the AFC East at 7-4. It seems like it’s all coming together for rookie QB Mac Jones on offense, while the Pats defense currently leads the league in scoring average, giving up just 16.1 PPG.
Los Angeles Rams (+1) at Green Bay Packers (-1)
The Rams are coming off their bye week and looking to get back on track following back-to-back losses at the hands of the Titans and 49ers. It is expected for the recently-acquired WR Odell Beckham Jr. to be a bigger part of the team’s offense in this one. Despite the Packers loss to the Vikings, the team is still sitting comfortably atop their division at 8-3. Green Bay owns the league’s best betting record, having gone 9-2 against the spread this year.
