Last week’s NFL betting action features a number of revealing outcomes as teams like the Bills and Eagles got back on track with a much-needed win while playoff hopefuls like the Jets and Giants suffered crushing defeats.

Looking ahead at the NFL’s Week 12 schedule, there are a number of appealing betting matchups in the days to come. The NFL will continue its tradition of Thanksgiving football with a triple header on Thursday before the rest of the games play out over the weekend. As always, Bovada Sportsbook has NFL odds on every Week 12 matchup and you can win a big payout with the right picks. Here are a few important betting trends to keep in mind before wagering on this week’s NFL action.

#1 – Lions Hunt Buffalo On Thanksgiving

Don’t look now but the Detroit Lions have won three straight games and are suddenly alive in the NFC playoff picture. Last week’s 31-18 betting upset over the Giants gave 4-6 Detroit their first three-game winning streak since November of 2017 and injected new life into this suddenly-thriving locker room. However, it’s not all good news in Motown as the Lions have to square off against the Bills this Thursday and Detroit is currently a 10-point underdog. Before you brush off Detroit’s chances of covering this Thanksgiving Day game, consider this: The Lions actually have a better record against the spread (6-4 ATS) than the Bills (4-5-1) and are 13-4 ATS as an underdog of 4+ points under head coach Dan Campbell.

#2 – NFC East Showdown In Big D

With the Cowboys and Giants both tied in the NFC East at 7-3, this week’s Thanksgiving Day matchup between the two teams could have a major impact in the standings. Dallas is coming off a massive 40-3 blowout win over the Vikings and look to be rounding into form, while the Giants just suffered a home loss to the Lions and will be desperate to get back in the win column. The Cowboys have dominated this rivalry as of late, having won 14 of the last 18 games against New York. With that being said, the Cowboys are an unimpressive 9-11 against the spread as Thanksgiving Day hosts.

#3 – Mixon, Chase Questionable vs. Titans

Two of the AFC’s best teams go head-to-head in Week 12 as the 6-4 Bengals travel to Nashville to take on the 7-2 Titans. Cincinnati has covered the spread in three of their last four games but may be without two of their best offensive weapons in this one; starting running back Joe Mixon and star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase are questionable to play. The Bengals will face a tough test versus a Titans team that’s covered the spread in eight straight games. If you’re thinking of betting on Cincinnati, be sure to check in on the injury status of Mixon and Chase before locking in your bet.

#4 – Quarterback Questions For Bears & Jets

Following some incredible performances over the past few weeks, it’s beginning to look like the 3-8 Bears have found their quarterback of the future in Justin Fields. The second-year signal caller has looked great as of late but is currently questionable to play against the 6-4 Jets after dislocating his non-throwing shoulder in Sunday’s loss to the Falcons. New York has a few quarterback questions of their own after last week’s terrible performance by Zach Wilson. Jets head coach Robert Saleh told reporters that he’s yet to decide who will be under center this Sunday against the Bears. Keep an eye on both quarterbacks leading up to Sunday as this news could have a major impact on the betting odds.

#5 – Chiefs Depth Being Tested

Kansas City is currently in the top spot in the AFC standings with a record of 8-2 and looking like a great betting option to win the 2023 Super Bowl. The Chiefs have the league’s most explosive offense and are averaging an NFL-best 30 points per game, but will need to overcome injuries to some key offensive players in this week’s betting matchup with the Rams. Kansas City recently placed WR Mecole Hardman on IR and now have questionable tags on RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire and WRs JuJu Smith-Schuster and Kadarius Toney. Currently listed as 14.5-point favorites over Los Angeles, it can be tough to cover such a huge point spread while missing so many weapons on offense.
