Corey Parson’s 2023 AFC Division Winners Picks
Now that every NFL team has reported to training camp, Corey Parson takes the time to share his 2023 season AFC division winners.
AFC EAST
New York Jets (+250)
It took me the entire offseason, but I have finally bought into the new look New York Jets. Aaron Rodgers’ time in Green Bay ended poorly; it seemed like he didn’t want to be there any longer. He looks rejuvenated with the Jets. I worry about Robert Saleh as the head coach, but the team will feed off Rodgers’ leadership.
Another reason why I’m going with the Jets is that I’m worried about the culture around the Buffalo Bills. There was a lot of finger-pointing after the season-ending loss to the Bengals. Sure, that happens, but rarely do you see it carry over to the next season. I think there are bigger issues in Buffalo.

AFC North
Baltimore Ravens (+220)
For my money, the AFC North is the best division in football. The games between these division opponents will play a major role in shaping the AFC playoffs. The Baltimore Ravens are the pick here; as long as Jackson is healthy, Baltimore will have a little bit more than everyone else. The Bengals are a super talented team, but I give Baltimore the head coach advantage.
AFC South
Indianapolis Colts (+600)
This may seem like an unorthodox pick, but hear me out. This is a three-team race. The Texans are the outsiders. For the past few years coming into the NFL season, the Indianapolis Colts have been a trendy pick to make a deep playoff run in the AFC. I would say that the talent on this year’s Colts team is better than what it has been. I think new head coach Shane Steichen along with rookie QB Anthony Richardson gives the Colts a boost in year one.
The Jaguars are the favorite to win this division at (-150). There is no way I would lay that number on Jacksonville. I understand they tasted success last season, but let’s not get carried away.

AFC West
Kansas City Chiefs (-200)
There is not much to see here; the Kansas City Chiefs are the class of the AFC West, and it will likely remain that way as long as the duo of Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes rule Chiefs Kingdom.
If I was looking for a longshot in this division, I would go with the Raiders. Vegas was not as bad as their record indicated last season. Jimmy Garoppolo knows the Josh McDaniels offense better than anyone in the league. The Raiders will be much better than last season.
