March Madness Preview | Corey Parson
With the start of the NCAA Tournament right around the corner, sports betting analyst Corey Parson shares which teams he will be placing wagers on to make the Final Four. NCAA Tournament futures odds via Bovada Sportsbook.
Houston Cougars (+110)
Now, before you accuse me of playing the chalk, hear me out. The Houston Cougars have been the best team in college basketball since the start of the season. Head coach Calvin Sampson’s team entered the tournament as the outright favorite on Bovada Sportsbook at +550. Houston finished the regular season with a 29-2 straight up record. Those losses came at Alabama and vs. Temple. Their best regular season win came at Virginia at the time the Cavaliers were the second ranked team in the nation. The Cougars may not play in a power conference but they are a power team. So, even at +110 to make the Final Four they are a value.

Kansas Jayhawks (+165)
If Houston has been the best team in college basketball this season Kansas has been 1A. The Jayhawks who happen to be the defending champs, put together a 26-6 overall record during the season. They put together a 13-5 record in a very tough Big 12 conference. They have road wins over Kentucky and TCU. On the season the Jayhawks were 7-4 on the Money Line and ATS on the road. That may not sound like much but that’s very impressive in the Big 12 conference. They were the only team in the Big 12 with a road record better than .500.
Gonzaga Bulldogs (+425)
Ok, now it’s time to heat up. This is a great price for a Gonzaga team that people have seemed to forget about. The Bulldogs have been one of the tournament favorites each of the last 3 seasons. Gonzaga was not as dominant this season as they have been the past few seasons but they still managed to go 28-5 on the year and win another WCC tournament title. With NCAA tournament vet Drew Timme and Head coach Mark Few back for another dance but be surprised if the Bulldogs make their third Final Four since 2017.

Kentucky Wildcats (+900)
This has been an up and down season for Coach Cal and the Kentucky Wildcats. From mid-December to mid-January Kentucky had a streak in which they lost 4 of 7 games. That streak included losses to UCLA, a 14-point loss at Missouri, a 26-point loss to Alabama and a home loss to South Carolina. Just like that the Wildcats were on the tournament bubble, it doesn’t make it better that the Wildcats were bumped by Saint Peters last season. That was the worst loss in program history.
There were even rumors that the legendary coach was on the hot seat. Since the loss to South Carolina the Wildcats have gone 11-4 with a pair of wins over Tennessee. Kentucky feels like how North Carolina entering the tournament felt last season.
Miami Hurricanes (+900)
The Hurricanes entered the ACC tournament after posting a 15-5 regular season record in the ACC, that was good enough for a share of the regular season title with the Virginia Cavaliers. This Miami team is tough and battle tested. The Hurricanes have won 9 of their last 11 games which includes road wins vs Clemson, North Carolina and V.A. Tech. Miami was the best team in the ACC this season. Hurricanes head coach Jim Larranaga went on a miracle Final Four run with George Mason in 2006. He could do it again with this Miami team.
