As one of the most storied traditions in all of baseball, the All-Star Game has been a celebrated part of the sport since it was first introduced back in 1933. Commonly referred to as the “Midsummer Classic’, the MLB All-Star Game showcases the best players that baseball has to offer and serves as the unofficial halfway point of the season.

The 2022 MLB All-Star Game is scheduled for July 19th at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. This will be the first time an All-Star Game is played in Los Angeles since the city last hosted the Midsummer Classic in 1980. With the American League and National League rosters now finalized, MLB fans get a chance to preview the lineups and check out this year’s All-Star Game betting odds at Bovada Sportsbook. If you’re looking to identify some noteworthy trends before betting on the Midsummer Classic, you should know that the AL has dominated this all-star matchup for the better part of two decades. The AL has won the last 8 straight All-Star Games and have gone an incredible 20-3-1 dating back to 1997. Despite that recent dominance, the all-time mark between the two leagues is quite close with the AL holding a narrow 46-43 edge over the National League in All-Star Game wins.

With the 2022 MLB All-Star Game set to be played in just under a week’s time, let’s take a closer look at the complete roster of both the AL and NL teams to figure out which side is looking like the best bet leading up to this year’s Midsummer Classic. As with every major sporting event, you can find 2022 MLB All Star odds at Bovada Sportsbook!

American League (-210)

This year’s AL team will look to continue their winning ways with some incredible talent up and down the lineup. For the second year in a row, Angels phenom, Shohei Ohtani will be a starting pitcher and designated hitter (DH) for the American League. This achievement is even more impressive when you realize that no other player has ever accomplished such a feat even once. Ohtani is playing at an MVP-caliber level with a 2.13 ERA on the mound, while also contributing in the batter’s box with 19 home runs and 54 RBI. This AL squad has plenty of power at the plate with the likes of Aaron Judge, Mike Trout and Giancarlo Stanton, a trio that’s already combined for 76 home runs this season. This team will also lean on a veteran pitching rotation with big arms like Shane McClanahan, Gerrit Cole and a rejuvenated Justin Verlander. Add in a bullpen that includes AL saves leader Emmanuel Clase and you can see why the AL is the betting favorite heading into the 2022 MLB All-Star Game.

National League – (+175)

With their last All-Star Game victory coming all the way back in 2012, the 2022 National League team will be looking to settle the score this year at Dodgers Stadium. Leading the way for this team is Cardinals first basemen Paul Goldschmidt; the star currently leads the NL in just about every offensive category, including runs (61), hits (107), batting average (.335), on-base percentage (.420), slugging (.602) and wins above replacement (4.7). While the National League squad has lots of star power with players like Manny Machado, Ronald Acuna Jr. and Mookie Bets, it’s worth noting that DH Bryce Harper will miss this game due to injury. Harper will be replaced at DH by William Contreras, making him and Willson Contreras the first set of brothers to start in the same all-star game since 1992.
