Warriors Favorites on NBA Western Conference Odds

Bet on NBA Western Conference Odds at Bovada

The Golden State Warriors established themselves as a dynasty last season by claiming their third NBA title in four years. More of the same is expected in the upcoming campaign, with the Warriors set to return to action as -245 favorites on the NBA Western Conference odds.

After finishing atop the NBA standings in the three previous years, the Warriors took a step back last season, winning 58 games to finish second to the league-leading Houston Rockets in the Western Conference. However, Golden State wasted no time in once again asserting its dominance in the postseason, marching to a fourth straight appearance in the NBA Finals, capped by a seven-game series victory over the Rockets in the Western Conference Finals.

Despite their continued success, the Warriors didn’t stand pat during the offseason. In addition to re-signing four-time NBA scoring champion Kevin Durant to a two-year contract extension, the team also came to terms with DeMarcus Cousins, inking the four-time all-star center to a one-year deal.

However, the Warriors expect to again face stiff competition from the Rockets, who sit second on the odds to win the Western Conference at +550, while the arrival of LeBron James in Southern California has lifted the Los Angeles Lakers to a short +650 bet.

Led by MVP James Harden, the Rockets racked up a franchise-record 65 victories last season on their way to their first-ever first-place finish in the Western Conference standings. However, the Warriors have proven to be Houston’s playoff nemesis. Golden State has eliminated the Rockets from spring action in three of the past four years, including a pair of series losses in the Western Conference Finals.

Lakers Look to Make Leap Forward with LeBron

The Lakers look to make a massive leap forward during the upcoming campaign after spending the past five seasons near or at the bottom of the standings, and well outside of playoff contention.

A youthful core featuring Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope powered the Lakers to 35 wins last season. With King James taking over the leadership reins, the Lakers now sit as a -105 bet to win OVER 48.5 games, and are a solid -350 favorite to return to the postseason for the first time since 2013.

Further down the NBA Western Conference betting odds, the Oklahoma City Thunder trail at +1500, well ahead of the Utah Jazz at +3500, and the San Antonio Spurs at +4000.

Winners of 48 games last season, the Thunder made an early exit from the playoffs for a second straight year, falling to Utah in six games. The team took care of its most urgent offseason business by signing Paul George to a lucrative four-year contract extension, but the Thunder could be missing former MVP Russell Westbrook in next Tuesday’s season-opening matchup with the Warriors at Oracle Arena.

Westbrook has not yet been cleared to return to action after undergoing knee surgery last month, but remains a +1600 wager to earn NBA MVP honors for the second time in his career, and trails only Washington’s John Wall with +270 odds of repeating as the NBA’s assists leader.
