The Golden State Warriors aim to become the first team to win three consecutive NBA titles since the Los Angeles Lakers accomplished the feat in 2003 as they prepare to kick off the NBA season on Tuesday as -195 favorites on the 2019 NBA Championship odds.

After winning at least 67 games in three straight campaigns, Golden State took a step back last season, posting 58 wins. However, the club suffered just five losses during a championship run powered by the dynamic duo of Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, and sport¬† -105 odds of winning OVER 62.5 games entering Tuesday night’s matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder at Oracle Arena.

Curry and Durant figure prominently among the favorites to claim NBA MVP honors this season. Durant closely trails the favorites to claim a second-career MVP award at +1000, just ahead of Curry, who is pegged as a +1200 bet on the NBA MVP odds.

However, the Warriors must contend with a host of serious challengers to their championship reign. The Boston Celtics sit second on the odds to win the 2019 NBA Championship at +500, ahead of the Houston Rockets at +850, while the new-look Los Angeles Lakers trail as a +1000 bet on the NBA title odds.

Despite the loss of stars Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward to injury, the Celtics mounted an impressive playoff run last spring that brought them to within one win of their first berth in the NBA Finals since 2010. With Irving and Hayward back to full health, the Celtics enter the new season amid high expectations, listed as a -140 wager to top 59 wins this season, and a short -130 bet on the NBA Eastern Conference futures.

The Rockets are hoping to avoid a letdown after finishing atop the NBA standings with a franchise-record 65 wins and taking the Warriors to a seventh game in the Western Conference Finals.

Houston returns to action with last season’s roster largely intact, but with the Warriors adding free agent DeMarcus Cousins and LeBron James taking his services to the Lakers, the Rockets open the season as a +550 bet to win the Western Conference.

LeBron as a Laker Expected to Transform Team

King James’ arrival in Los Angeles is expected to transform a Lakers squad coming off a franchise-record five straight losing seasons. The 33-year-old superstar joins a youthful mix led by Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball, and is pegged as a solid +333 bet to claim a fifth career NBA MVP award.

Further down the NBA title odds, the Toronto Raptors lead the middle of the pack at +1400, ahead of the Philadelphia 76ers at +1600, while the Thunder trail at a distant +3000.

The Raptors captured the biggest headlines of any Eastern Conference squad this summer by pulling the trigger on a deal to acquire disgruntled forward Kawhi Leonard from San Antonio for a package that included fan favorite DeMar DeRozan.

Toronto finished atop the Eastern Conference standings last season with a franchise-record 59 wins but fell flat in the playoffs yet again with a second-round loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Sixers look to build on their first playoff appearance in six years last spring, and currently edge out Toronto with +375 odds to win the Eastern Conference.
