Underdog Rams Set for Super Bowl Sunday

Bet on Super Bowl Odds and Football Lines at Bovada

The Los Angeles Rams are looking to claim two-straight wins as underdogs for the first time since 2016 when they battle the New England Patriots on  Sunday. The Rams are 3-point underdogs on the Super Bowl odds.

Las week, Los Angeles claimed its first Super Bowl berth since 2002 with a 26-23 victory over New Orleans as a 3-point underdog. They have now rewarded bettors with against-the-spread wins in four-straight games ahead of Sunday’s matchup.

The Rams’ surge marks their longest successful ATS run since the team covered in five straight back in October 2016. Los Angeles has also enjoyed steady historical success when pegged as a playoff underdog of fewer than four points, winning outright in four straight.

But while the Rams ranked second in the NFL with 32.9 points scored per game this season, they have also surrendered 30 or more points in seven of their 18 overall contests. That trend contributed to a lengthy stretch of futility prior to their current streak, with the team posting ATS wins in just two of 11 outings.

However, those trends have not translated into consistent winning results for the OVER in totals betting. The UNDER has prevailed in four of the Rams’ past seven games while going 8-9-1 on the season. And with the total in Sunday’s game pegged at 57.0, the UNDER could gain considerable attention on the Super Bowl lines.

The Rams have seen the total finish higher than 57 points just once in their last seven outings after topping that number six times through their first 11 contests of the season.

Rams Players Highlight Super Bowl Betting Props

But while point production remains somewhat of a concern, Rams players are in the thick of prop betting on who will score the first touchdown on Sunday. Rusher Todd Gurley closely trails favorite Sony Michel of the New England Patriots as a +600 wager, followed by CJ Anderson at +700, while receivers Brandin Cooks and Robert Woods sit deadlocked at +750.

Gurley has enjoyed another outstanding campaign in 2018. The 24-year-old led the NFL in rushing touchdowns for a second straight year with 17, and is set as a +180 wager to reach the end zone at some point in Sunday’s game. Gurley is also a -115 wager to scamper for OVER 70.5 yards for the 10th time this season.

Anderson also hopes to build on his 123-yard, two-touchdown performance in the team’s 30-22 win over Dallas on Divisional Playoff weekend. That marked Anderson’s third outing with over 120 rushing yards in four outings, fueling -115 odds that the six-year veteran will top a conservative 55.5 rushing yards in his second career Super Bowl appearance.

The emphasis on the Rams’ ground game has lowered expectations for quarterback Jared Goff as he prepares to make his first-ever Super Bowl appearance. The 24-year-old sat among the league leaders in passing yards and touchdowns this season, and looks to the weekend trailing only Tom Brady as a +250 wager on the Super Bowl MVP odds.

Goff is pegged as a -115 wager to throw for UNDER 289.5 yards, and to complete UNDER two touchdown passes on the Super Bowl betting props.
