Dos Santos Favored on UFC Fight Night 133 Odds

UFC Fight Night 133 Lines at Bovada

Heavyweight Junior dos Santos will make his return to the octagon following a 14-month absence on Saturday when he takes on UFC newcomer Blagoy Ivanov as a -175 favorite on the UFC Fight Night 133 odds.

“Cigano” has been idle since suffering a first-round TKO loss on punches in a highly anticipated rematch with Stipe Miocic as a +140 underdog at UFC 211, coming up short in his bid to regain the UFC heavyweight crown he held six years ago, and falling to 3-4 in his past seven fights going into Saturday night’s matchup at CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho.

The 34-year-old won the UFC heavyweight championship in stunning fashion back in 2011, ending Cain Velasquez’s night just 64 seconds into their meeting at UFC on Fox 1, and also claiming a Knockout of the Night bonus while paying out as a +125 wager. However, dos Santos has struggled with consistency since successfully defending his title with a second-round TKO win over Frank Mir at UFC 146 as -475 chalk.

The native of Cacador, Brazil lost the belt in a rematch with Velasquez at UFC 155, and fell to defeat by fifth-round TKO in a third meeting with Velasquez at UFC 166, but earned a unanimous decision win over Miocic at UFC on Fox 13 as a -450 bet, making him the last man to defeat the former champion until his stunning loss to Daniel Cormier last weekend at UFC 226.

Ivanov the Underdog on Betting Lines for Saturday

Ivanov makes his UFC promotional debut on Saturday as a +145 underdog on the dos Santos vs. Ivanov fight odds. Ivanov makes the leap to the UFC after an impressive reign atop the heavyweight division of the Professional Fighters League (formerly known as the World Series of Fighting), and owns a 16-1 professional mixed martial arts record with one no-contest.

The 31-year-old Bulgarian made his last appearance at a PFL event last November, posting a unanimous decision victory over Caio Alencar as -335 chalk in the fourth successful defense of his PFL/WSOF heavyweight title, and bolstering his position as one of the world’s top heavyweights not fighting in the UFC.

Ivanov will also be familiar to fans of Bellator, where he competed for over three years, going 6-1 in seven fights, capped by the only defeat of his pro career, a second-round loss to Alexander Volkov in the Season Ten Heavyweight Tournament Final at Bellator 120.

Elsewhere on the UFC Fight Night 133 betting lines, Sage Northcutt takes on fellow welterweight Zak Ottow as -140 chalk. Northcutt is coming off consecutive unanimous decision wins including a victory over Thibault Gouti as a -400 bet at UFC Fight Night 126, while Ottow enters the octagon as a solid +110 underdog after finishing Mike Pyle with a first-round TKO on punches as a -350 favorite at UFC 222.

Dennis Bermudez has fallen to defeat by split decision in two of his three recent losses, but faces Rick Glenn as a strong -260 favorite in a battle of featherweights. Cat Zingano also aims to end a three-fight losing slide as she clashes with wily veteran Marion Reneau as a slender -120 favorite.
