Swanson the Favorite on Fight Night Odds

UFC Fight Night 108 insights and odds - Bovada Sportsbook

Cub Swanson will be aiming to extend his winning streak in the octagon to four fights on Saturday when he takes on fellow featherweight Artem Lobov in the main event at UFC Fight Night 108 as a heavy -600 betting favorite.

Affectionately known as “Killer”, the 33-year-old American is coming off a unanimous decision win over Doo Ho Choi as a +175 underdog in a classic UFC 206 matchup that was later named 2016 Fight of the Year. The win lifted his professional MMA record to 24-7 going into Saturday night’s matchup at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

Perched as the No. 4 challenger among UFC featherweights, Swanson has earned the unanimous decision in each of his three recent victories. He got past Tatsuya Kawajiri as -315 chalk at UFC Fight Night 92, and Hacran Dias in a UFC on Fox 19 fight pegged as a pick’em at the sportsbooks. That ended a two-fight slide that included submission losses to UFC veterans Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar.

A submission specialist early in his pro MMA career, Swanson has gone the distance in five of his past six wins, but has also ended eight fights by KO or TKO.

A heavy +400 underdog on Saturday night, Lobov has also claimed recent wins by unanimous decision, outlasting Teruto Ishihara as a +220 underdog at UFC Fight Night 99, and Chris Avila as -130 chalk at UFC 202.

Those wins lifted Lobov’s UFC record to 2-2 and also marked his first consecutive victories since 2013, with “The Russian Hammer” compiling a middling 6-6-1 record in 13 pro MMA contests since then.

Iaquinta also Chalk on Saturday Night Card

In other UFC Fight Night 108 betting action, lightweight Al Iaquinta sits as a -400 favorite as he looks for a fourth straight victory in his clash with Diego Sanchez, who trails at +300, while light heavyweight Ovince Saint-Preux tries to avoid a fourth straight loss as he battles Marcos Rogerio de Lima as narrow -165 chalk.

Iaquinta has finished three of his past four fights with TKO wins, but was forced to settle for a split decision win over Jorge Masvidal as slim -120 chalk at UFC Fight Night 63.

Saint-Preux has lost four of five overall to fall to 19-10 in his MMA career, including a unanimous decision loss to Jon Jones as a +400 underdog in a UFC 197 battle for the UFC light heavyweight crown. However, only three of his 10 career defeats have come inside the distance.
