Monaco returns to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2005 on Wednesday, taking on Italian powerhouse Juventus in the first leg of their matchup as +200 home underdogs.

Monaco has emerged as the Cinderella story of this season’s tournament. Les Rouges et Blanc opened as +20000 futures longshots prior to the start of the campaign, but enter Wednesday afternoon’s matchup at Stade Louis II sporting +800 odds to win the Champions League crown for the first time.

After finishing third in Ligue 1 action last season to qualify for a third straight UCL appearance, Monaco has gone unbeaten in 16 straight matches to rise to the top of the league table.

That hot streak has coincided with the club’s impressive performance in the Champions League knockout stage. Monaco recorded a 3-1 second-leg victory over Manchester City as a +185 underdog to advance to the quarter-finals, where it dominated a shaken Borussia Dortmund squad in a 6-3 aggregate victory.

Juve clinched a semi-final berth after shutting out Barcelona 3-0 on aggregate in their quarter-final matchup. The defending Serie A champions have held opponents to just two total goals during a six-match unbeaten streak in all competitions, and have outscored opponents by a 10-1 margin over their past five UCL road contests.

All-Madrid Matchup in First Semi-Final

UEFA Champions League semi-final action gets underway on Tuesday, when Real Madrid hosts crosstown rivals Atletico Madrid as heavy -130 chalk.

Real potted three extra-time goals in the second leg of its matchup with Bayern Munchen to claim a 6-3 aggregate win and advance to the semi-finals for a seventh straight season, but followed up with a disappointing 3-2 El Clasico loss to Barcelona as -110 chalk and is an uneven 2-1-1 at home in its past four overall.

Atletico will be trying to avenge its memorable loss to Real in last year’s Champions League final. Pegged as +350 underdogs, Los Rojiblancos had the upset in reach after a late goal pulled them even with Real, before falling 5-3 on penalties.

Real followed up with a 3-0 road win as +210 underdogs in the first of two Primera Division dates with Atletico this season, but were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw as strong -135 home chalk in an early April meeting.

A +500 bet to repeat as UCL champions at the start of the season, Real Madrid is currently joined atop the odds at +160 by Juventus, which opened at +1200, while Atletico Madrid has moved from +1400 to +400.
