Man City Atop Champions League Odds

Man City Atop Champions League Odds - Bovada Sportsbook

Manchester City’s dreams of an undefeated season came to a screeching halt with a stunning 2-1 loss to Shakhtar Donetsk as +165 road chalk in the final date on its UEFA Champions League group stage schedule. However, the Citizens’ first loss in a competitive fixture in over seven months has not shaken their position on the soccer futures, where they remain strong +275 favorites to claim this season’s Champions League title.

The Citizens have been almost unbeatable in competitive fixtures since dropping a 2-1 decision to Arsenal FC as +110 chalk in the FA Cup semi-final last April. The club is 17-3-0 in Premier League action since, and outgunned opponents by a 13-3 margin in five straight UCL wins prior to this month’s loss to the reigning Ukrainian Premier League champions.

With the Champions League knockout stage not scheduled to get underway until February, City can focus on continuing its domination of the Premier League, where they hold a big 11-point lead atop the table and sit as heavy -2500 chalk to claim their first title in four years.

However, City has advanced past the Champions League Round of 16 just once in six previous appearances, falling 1-0 on aggregate to eventual winner Real Madrid two years ago.

Real successfully defended their UCL crown with a lopsided 4-1 victory over Juventus in last year’s final, but trail the favorites on the soccer futures at +750. Paris Saint-Germain currently represents City’s closest competition on the UCL odds at +400, ahead of Bayern Munich at +500, and FC Barcelona at +650.

PSG are Sitting Atop the Ligue 1 Standings

Powered by the recent additions of Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappe, PSG has returned to the top of the Ligue 1 table after finishing second to AS Monaco last season. The Parisiens have averaged three goals per match while amassing a sparkling 14-2-1 league record. However, they ended an impressive group stage run with a 3-1 loss to Bayern Munich, and have failed to advance past the Champions League quarter-finals since their lone appearance in the semi-finals in 1995.

Bayern closed out its group stage schedule in impressive fashion, posting four straight victories, and will be eager to avenge a lopsided 6-3 aggregate loss to Real Madrid in last season’s quarter-final as it pursues its first UCL title since 2013.

Barcelona has gone undefeated in 15 straight La Liga matches, as well as six UCL group stage contests, but will face a tough test when it opens the knockout stage against Chelsea FC. The Blues are unbeaten in eight straight meetings with Barca, but trail at a distant +2500 on the Champions League futures.
