Steelers are Heavy Favorites for Monday Night Football

Bet on the Steelers at the Bovada Sportsbook.

The Pittsburgh Steelers back-to-back wins for the first time since last November when they host the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football as 14-point favorites.

14-point faves despite having no “Big” Ben Roethlisberger. That’s either a testament to how well head coach Mike Tomlin has the Steelers playing the last two weeks, or how bad the Dolphins are.

Pittsburgh enjoyed a bye in Week 7 after posting a 24-17 upset win over the Los Angeles Chargers as a 6-point underdogs on the road to go 2-4 on the season.

After opening the season on a three-game losing streak, the Steelers have won two of their last three. They’ve also gone 3-0-1 against the spread over their last four contests after earning ATS wins in just two of their last eight.

Despite overachieving without Big Ben, they’ve struggled overall at home. Pittsburgh is just 3-3 SU while covering in just two of those games. The silver lining is they lost to contenders Baltimore and Seattle by just five points combined.

The Steelers have also stepped up against struggling opponents. Not only did they add another “L” to the Chargers’ disappointing three-game slide, but Pittsburgh dominated in a Week 4 clash with Cincinnati, handing the winless Bengals a 27-3 beating as 3.5-point homedogs in NFL betting.

The team now has a second chance to kick start their season against another winless squad under the Monday Night lights. The Steelers are 5-2 SU in their last seven home meetings with Miami, capped by a 30-12 win as 11.5-point favorites on Wild Card Weekend in January 2017. Pittsburgh has also regularly rewarded bettors in recent dates with the Dolphins, going 3-0-1 against the NFL spread in their past four overall meetings.

The Steelers have also been a force to be reckoned with when playing on Monday Night Football, posting SU wins in 14 of 16 appearances and each of their past seven, including a 3-0 win over Miami back in 2007.

Dolphins Ride Long Losing Streak into Monday Night

Tank for Tua. That’s the best way to describe the Dolphins.

However, Miami is coming off arguably their strongest performance of the season in a 31-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills, covering as 17-point underdogs to claim their second straight ATS win.

Still, the Dolphins are bottom feeders. They sit dead last in the NFL, alongside the New York Jets, with just 10.5 points scored per game while allowing a league-worst 35.2 points per game.

The team’s running game ranks 31st in the NFL averaging just 66.7 yards per outing, while quarterback Josh Rosen has struggled to spark a passing attack that has averaged a 30th-ranked 192.0 yards per game and produced just four total touchdowns.

The result has been massively low expectations on the NFL odds, with the 0-6 Dolphins looking toward Monday night as double-digit underdogs for the fourth time in their six outings this season. But while Miami is a dismal 1-14 SU overall in its past 15 road games, the team owns a respectable 12-8 ATS mark in their past 20 as double-digit road underdogs.
