Raptors Rise on 2019 NBA Championship Odds

Bet on the 2019 NBA Championship Odds

The Toronto Raptors have climbed to the top of the NBA standings during the fastest start in franchise history and are being rewarded on the 2019 NBA Championship odds, where they now sit second only to Golden State as an improving +850 wager.

Following yet another disappointing early exit from the NBA playoffs last spring, the Raptors shook up their roster with a blockbuster deal that brought two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year Kawhi Leonard to Toronto in exchange for all-star shooting guard DeMar DeRozan.

That bold move failed to breathe life into Toronto’s pre-season position on the NBA Championship odds, where they lagged behind the favorites at +1400. However, the Raptors have quickly captured attention during a 12-2 start that has featured seven wins by double-digit margins, and vaulted them to -145 chalk to repeat as Atlantic Division champions.

While the Raptors have soared, the Boston Celtics have struggled. Unlike Toronto, the Celtics opened the new campaign amid high expectations after coming within one game of a berth in the last spring’s NBA Finals. However, after going a dismal 1-4 SU on a recent western swing, Boston has seen its NBA Championship odds slip to +950, well back of its season-opening position at +500.

The Philadelphia 76ers are also off to a middling start this season. SU winners in just one of seven road outings to date, the Sixers took a bold step to shore up their lineup late over the weekend, acquiring shooting guard Jimmy Butler in a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Butler’s arrival should improve a 76ers defense that has surrendered 122 or more points on five occasions so far this season. The 29-year-old averaged 5.2 rebounds, 2.4 steals, and 21.3 points over 10 outings in Minnesota this season, but is pegged as a -125 bet to average UNDER 21 points per game with Philadelphia.

Bucks on Move on NBA Championship Betting Odds

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the campaign has been the Milwaukee Bucks. Winners in their first seven outings, the Bucks have since cooled, going 3-3 SU during a six-game stretch that featured five road trips. Milwaukee sits second to Toronto on the Eastern Conference standings, and has rocketed to +2000 on the NBA championship betting odds after opening at +10000.

The Bucks have also emerged as heavy -270 favorites to claim their first Central Division crown since 2001. However, Milwaukee must overcome a lengthy 18-year drought without a playoff series victory to pay out as a +600 wager on the Eastern Conference championship odds.

The Warriors maintain their familiar perch atop the NBA Championship betting odds as -150 favorites after jumping out to an early lead in the Western Conference standings. Led by NBA top scorer Stephen Curry, Golden State entered the week with a league-leading 121.9 points per game, fueling the team’s massive -240 odds of claiming a fifth straight Western Conference title.

Houston came within one victory of an NBA Finals berth last season, but following a disappointing 5-7 start, the Rockets have seen their NBA Championship odds dip to a lengthy +1400. Further down the NBA Championship odds, the Los Angeles Lakers have slipped to +2500, followed by the Oklahoma City Thunder at +3000, and the Denver Nuggets at +3500.
