Man City Opens Season Atop EPL Odds

Man City Opens Season Atop EPL Odds - Bovada Sportsbook

With the start of the Premier League season just days away Manchester City has emerged as the clear favorite to claim its first league championship in four years, sitting at +175 atop the EPL futures.

The Citizens struggled with consistency last season, and needed victories in their final four matches to lock down third place on the Premier League table. However, they have looked in championship mode in three recent wins ahead of Saturday’s game against Brighton & Hove Albion at Falmer Stadium.

City dominated in a 3-0 win over West Ham United in a club friendly in Reykjavik, Iceland last weekend after turning in a pair of impressive performances at the International Champions Cup – knocking off Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 as a +120 favorite on July 29 after topping Real Madrid 4-1 as a +250 bet three days earlier.

The 2014 Premier League champions are also heavy -105 favorites to finish in the top two on the league table this season, and enjoy a favorable August schedule. City is a heavy -315 favorite in Saturday’s clash with the recently promoted Seagulls, followed by dates against Everton and AFC Bournemouth, which trail on the EPL championship odds at +6600 and +50000, respectively.

Chelsea, Man Utd Tied for Second on List

Defending Premier League champions Chelsea closely trail the Citizens on the EPL futures, joining Manchester United at +325, while Tottenham Hotspur follow at +900, ahead of Liverpool and Arsenal, who each sport +1100 odds.

The Blues dominated down the stretch this past spring, claiming victory in their final six Premier League outings to claim their second league title in three years. However, they have struggled during the offseason, posting just one victory in five outings, capped by a 3-1 loss on penalties to Arsenal as +110 chalk in Sunday’s FA Community Shield matchup.

With just one win in their final six matches, the Reds were forced to settle for a sixth-place finish last season, but picked up wins in seven of eight offseason outings across all competitions including a 2-0 win over City as +170 underdogs in last month’s International Champions Cup.

Led by Harry Kane, the +275 favorite to emerge as the Premier League’s top goalscorer, Tottenham aims to build on last season’s impressive 26-8-4 record. Liverpool reached fourth on the EPL table last season for just the second time in eight years, and looks to end a 28-year Premier League championship drought.

2016 EPL champions Leicester City sit well back of the favorites at +20000, while West Ham joins Southampton at a distant +35000.
