A potential preview of the AFC Championship Game highlights the action in NFL Week 5 as the high-powered Kansas City Chiefs look to improve their perfect straight-up record to 5-0 as they take on the Jacksonville Jaguars as 3-point home favorites on the NFL odds.

Kansas City has stormed to the top of the AFC conference standings on the strength of a league-leading offense that has averaged 36.3 points per game in four outings ahead of Sunday afternoon’s matchup at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Chiefs have opened up a two-game lead over second-place Denver in the AFC West, and are now set as -350 favorites to repeat as divisional champions. However, the Kansas City defense has surrendered 28.8 points and a league-worst 451.8 total yards per game.

That could be cause for concern against Jacksonville, which has limited opponents to a league-best 14.0 points and 259.3 total yards per game. The Jaguars’ smothering defense was on full display while holding the New York Jets to just 178 total yards in last week’s lopsided 31-12 win as 7.5-point chalk.

With the win, the 3-1 Jaguars join Tennessee atop the AFC South, and closely trail New England and the Chiefs as a +550 bet on the AFC championship odds. However, the Jaguars have dropped three straight to the Chiefs and have failed to post a SU win in Kansas City since 2007.

Undefeated Rams Heavy Favorites vs. Seahawks

In other key matchups on the NFL Week 5 odds, the Los Angeles Rams look to extend their lead atop the NFC West as they take on the Seattle Seahawks as 7.5-point road chalk, while the Philadelphia Eagles host the Minnesota Vikings as 3-point favorites on the NFL lines in a clash of slumping NFC powerhouses.

The Rams continued to justify their position as heavy +333 Super Bowl favorites with last week’s 38-31 win over Minnesota as 7-point home favorites. Los Angeles has also been a force in road outings, scoring 32 or more points on five occasions during an 8-1 SU run.

After opening the season with consecutive road losses to Denver and Chicago, the Seahawks have rebounded with a pair of wins, capped by last week’s last-second 20-17 win in Arizona as 3.5-point chalk. However, point production has been an issue in recent dates against the Rams, with the Seahawks getting held to 16 or fewer points in three of their past four against Los Angeles, including a 42-7 loss as 1-point home favorites in Week 15 of last season.

Perched among the preseason favorites on the NFC championship futures, both Minnesota and Philadelphia have tumbled to +900 following losses in Week 4.

The Vikings now head to Philadelphia for a rematch of last year’s NFC Championship Game riding a three-game SU winless streak, while the Eagles look to rebound from a surprising 26-23 loss in Tennessee as 3-point favorites.

Despite a shaky 2-2 start, the Eagles remain a reliable bet on home turf, covering nine times during a 13-1 SU run at home, and have limited the Vikings to just 17 total points in two straight victories.
