Vikings Among Divisional Round Betting Chalk

The Minnesota Vikings will be looking to put the brakes on a three-game losing streak in postseason action when they host the New Orleans Saints on Sunday as 4-point favorites on the NFL playoff lines.

Minnesota enjoyed a bye last weekend after closing out the regular season atop the NFC North standings with a 13-3 straight up record, and takes a five-game home winning streak into Sunday’s game at U.S. Bank Stadium.

The Vikings were among the first teams to clinch a postseason berth, claiming their second divisional crown in three years with a lopsided 34-7 Week 15 win over Cincinnati as 12.5-point home favorites on the betting lines.

The squad did not let up down the stretch, pounding Green Bay 16-0 as 8.5-point road chalk the following week, before topping Chicago 23-10 as a 13.5-point home favorite in its regular-season finale. The Vikings have also covered in nine of their past 11 contests, and have emerged as a +375 wager to win Super Bowl 52.

The Saints travel north after outlasting the Carolina Panthers in a 31-26 win as 6.5-point home favorites on Wild Card Weekend. New Orleans averaged 28.0 points per game this season, but has lost SU in three straight on the road, and is on a 2-6 run against the spread.

New Orleans also dropped a 29-19 decision to Minnesota as a 3-point road underdog in Week 1, and has struggled historically in road dates with the Vikings. The Saints are 2-9 SU and 4-7 ATS in 11 visits to Minnesota since 1986, and are pegged as a +170 bet on the Divisional Round lines to pull off the upset win on Sunday.

Earlier on Sunday, the Jacksonville Jaguars will try to build on their stunning 30-9 Week 5 win in Pittsburgh when they visit the Steelers as 7.5-point underdogs. The 10-6 Jaguars ended a decade-long playoff drought by claiming their first divisional title since 1999, and have claimed three outright wins as betting underdogs this season.

The Jaguars are also 6-2 SU in eight visits to Pittsburgh including four outright wins as underdogs, and topped the Steelers 31-29 as 3-point road chalk in a Wild Card matchup 10 years ago.

Divisional Round Betting Gets Underway Saturday

Divisional Round betting action gets underway on Saturday as the Atlanta Falcons visit the Philadelphia Eagles as 3-point favorites, while the New England Patriots take on the Tennessee Titans as massive 14-point home chalk.

The Falcons ended a five-game SU slide in playoff road games with last week’s 23-13 win over the Los Angeles Rams as 6-point underdogs, but have recorded just one win in eight visits to Philadelphia since 1988. However, they face an Eagles squad that has the dubious distinction of being the first top seed to be set as an underdog in Divisional Round history.

On Saturday night, the Patriots aim for a third straight SU and ATS win as double-digit playoff favorites. New England has won by an average margin of 16.6 points in five straight home victories and has dominated in six straight outright wins over the Titans, who trailed as distant +5000 longshots on the Super Bowl odds.
