TFC Road Underdog to Open MLS Semifinals

TFC Road Underdog to Open MLS Semifinals - Bovada Sportsbook

Toronto FC will be gunning for a third straight win over Columbus when they visit the Crew on Tuesday for the first leg of the MLS Eastern Conference finals as +250 underdogs on the betting lines.

The Reds set a new MLS record for most regular-season points with 69, but will be without some key personnel in Tuesday night’s matchup at MAPFRE Stadium.

An off-field altercation during TFC’s 1-0 loss to New York as -167 chalk on November 5 has led to a one-match suspension of striker Jozy Altidore. The club’s leading goalscorer Sebastian Giovinco will also sit after collecting cards in each of the club’s two legs against the Red Bulls during their Eastern Conference semifinal clash, including a controversial yellow card received for arguing non-calls.

Despite facing a tough start to the conference finals, the Reds remain atop the MLS Cup championship odds as +120 favorites.

The Crew enter Tuesday’s contest as even-money home chalk after punching their ticket to the MLS Cup’s final four with a 4-3 aggregate win over New York City FC.

Columbus has been dominant at home since mid-July, going 8-1-0 in its past nine while surrendering more than one goal on just one occasion. The Crew have steadily gained ground on the MLS Cup odds during their hot home run, climbing from +2200 to +335, but are EVEN underdogs to get past TFC and make their second MLS Cup final in three years.

Sounders, Dynamo Clash in Western Finals

Over in the MLS Western Conference finals, the defending-champion Seattle Sounders visit Houston for Wednesday night’s first-leg battle as +200 underdogs on the game line odds.

The Sounders have not surrendered a goal during a 3-1-0 run, outscoring opponents by a 9-0 margin. However, Seattle has also been held off the scoreboard in four straight road dates, giving up four total goals, and is 2-7-5 in its past 14 dates away from CenturyLink Field.

The Dynamo have started to find their groove during a 4-1-1 run, capped by a stunning 2-1 victory over Portland as +350 underdogs in the second leg of the conference semifinals to advance to the Western Conference finals for the seventh time in franchise history.

Matchups between these clubs have tended to be low-scoring affairs, with the total goals going over 2 just once in their past nine meetings. Houston is undefeated in 10 home dates with the Sounders, going 5-5-0, but is a +105 bet to advance to the final and a +500 longshot on the MLS Cup odds, while Seattle trails TFC as a +275 bet to repeat as league champion.
