Michel, Gurley Highlighted in Super Bowl Prop Betting

Rookie running back Sony Michel has emerged as the difference-maker in the New England Patriots’ march to their fourth Super Bowl appearance in the last five years.

The 23-year-old has run for five scores in New England’s two playoff victories and is pegged as a +500 favorite on the Super Bowl player props to score the first touchdown when the Patriots take on the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday as 3-point favorite in Super Bowl LIII.

Selected 31st overall by New England in the 2018 NFL Draft, Michel has stepped up to fill an urgent need for the Patriots this season, rushing for over 110 yards on six occasions and tallying 11 total scoring runs. More of the same is expected from the former Georgia Bulldog when he returns to Atlanta for Sunday’s game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Michel also leads the way with +160 odds to score a major during the first half of Sunday’s contest, and tops Rams rusher Todd Gurley as a short +275 bet to score two or more touchdowns in his Super Bowl debut. But Gurley sits as a favorite as a -115 wager on the Super Bowl odds to amass OVER 102.5 total rushing and receiving yards.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady also holds the edge over his Rams counterpart Jared Goff in Super Bowl prop betting. Brady is set as a -130 favorite to throw the game’s first touchdown, while Goff makes his first trip to the Super Bowl sporting short -130 odds to toss Sunday’s first interception.

And while Brady will have a mountain to climb in his bid to top his record-setting performance from last year’s Super Bowl, when he tossed for 505 yards, he has emerged as a heavy -140 favorite to top 300 passing yards for a third straight week.

Goff Super Bowl Props Include Pass Yards, TDs

With the Rams expected to lean heavily on a rushing corps led by Gurley, Goff faces more tempered expectations with -115 odds of throwing for UNDER 289.5 passing yards, and is listed as a -215 wager to fail to throw a scoring pass in the first quarter.

Elsewhere on the Super Bowl props, both Brady and Goff will likely have to keep on their toes, with the odds of OVER 3.5 total QB sacks in Sunday’s game listed at a short -150.

Cory Littleton is expected to have a big day, with the Rams linebacker listed as a -130 wager to rack up OVER 8.0 total tackles and assists, while the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2017, Aaron Donald, is pegged as a -110 wager to top 4.5 total tackles and assists.

The two kickers expected to play on Sunday have combined to kick 10 total field goals over two weeks of playoff action. However, the odds of New England’s Stephen Gostkowski and the Rams’ Greg Zuerlein combining to kick OVER 3.5 field goals remain pegged at an attractive -120 on the Super Bowl team props, with the odds lengthening to +220 that the two kickers will combine to top 4.5 total three-pointers in this season’s big game.
