McGregor vs. Mayweather Odds Favor Notorious - Bovada Sportsbook

The on-again, off-again speculation swirling around a potential octagon rematch between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr. has once again heated up, with reports surfacing last week of Mayweather hitting the gym in preparation for his long anticipated MMA debut.

While Mayweather has received plenty of offers from UFC fighters eager to help him hone his wrestling skills, McGregor remains a massive favorite to claim victory in a potential MMA rematch with the undefeated former boxing champion, perched at -900 on the McGregor vs. Mayweather odds.

The world’s most famous fighters faced off in the ring last August, with Mayweather finishing the former two-division UFC champion by 10th-round TKO, and paying out as a -350 favorite.

Mayweather owns an unblemished 50-0 professional boxing record, but with no previous MMA or wrestling experience to his credit the 41-year-old is listed as a +550 bet on the McGregor vs. Mayweather fight odds.

Often proclaimed as the best defensive fighter in the history of the sweet science, Mayweather has demonstrated an innate ability to elude opponents in the ring, while wearing them down with counterpunches. That has resulted in nine of his past 11 contests going the distance, with “Money” claiming victory by unanimous decision on seven occasions.

Avoiding McGregor in the octagon and paying off on the McGregor vs. Mayweather Jr. UFC betting odds would prove to be considerably more challenging. The 29-year-old Irishman has knocked out opponents on seven occasions during a 9-1 run in UFC action, capped by a second-round TKO victory over Eddie Alvarez as a -170 favorite that earned him the UFC lightweight crown in his last octagon appearance at UFC 205.

McGregor Soon to Make Return to the UFC?

McGregor has not returned to UFC action since that November 2016 win, raising the possibility that he could soon be stripped of the UFC lightweight belt. However, McGregor’s manager was reported as saying he expects his fighter to soon make a return to the UFC.

When that happens, there will be no shortage of UFC fighters willing to take him on. American Tony Ferguson ascended to the interim UFC lightweight championship during McGregor’s absence with his 10th straight victory, a third-round submission win over Kevin Lee as -280 chalk at UFC 216.

Following recent tangles with McGregor on Twitter, undisputed UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway is also reportedly eager for a rematch with the colorful Dublin native. “Blessed” suffered a unanimous decision loss to McGregor as a +250 underdog at UFC Fight Night 26, but is undefeated in 12 octagon appearances since, capped by a second straight TKO win over former champion Jose Aldo as a -285 favorite at UFC 218.

Further adding to the intrigue, speculation persists around the possibility of former eight-time world champion Manny Pacquiao making the move to the UFC to take on The Notorious – with McGregor set as the -1000 betting favorite.

The 39-year-old briefly flirted with retirement after falling to Mayweather by unanimous decision as a +160 underdog when the two legends met in May 2015. Pacquiao made a triumphant return to the ring with a unanimous decision win over Jessie Vargas as a -900 bet in November 2016 to claim the WBO welterweight crown for a third time, but subsequently fell to Australian Jeff Horn by unanimous decision in July 2017.
