Duke Highlights March Madness Sweet 16 Odds

Duke Highlights March Madness Sweet 16 Odds - Bovada Sportsbook

The Duke Blue Devils look to advance to the Elite Eight for the first time since their national championship victory in 2015 when face the conference rival Syracuse Orange on Friday as 11.5-point favorites on the March Madness Sweet 16 odds.

Pegged as the Midwest Region’s No.2 seed after finishing second to the Virginia Cavaliers in the ACC standings this season, the Blue Devils dominated during the opening weekend of this year’s NCAA Tournament.

Duke romped to easy wins over No.15 Iona and No.7 Rhode Island in its first two tournament outings, and has claimed victory by double-digit margins in eight of 11 contests going into Friday night’s game at CenturyLink Center in Omaha.

The Blue Devils have also benefited from a rash of early exits by squads that entered the tournament leading the way on the 2018 March Madness odds.

In addition to the ACC champion Cavaliers, who earned the dubious distinction as the first No. 1 seed to ever fall to a No. 16 seed with their stunning 74-54 loss to UMBC as 20.5-point chalk, Xavier, Tennessee, and rival North Carolina all bowed out on opening weekend, clearing the way for Duke to ascend to the top of the championship odds as +325 favorites.

However, the Blue Devils can expect Syracuse to be anything but a pushover on Friday night. The Orange shocked the Michigan State Spartans with a 55-53 win as 10-point underdogs in second round action, and have now claimed outright victories in five of their past six contests as betting underdogs.

The No.11-seeded Orange also reached the Final Four the last time they were set as double-digit seeds two years ago, and are 2-2 SU and ATS in their past four meetings with No.2 seeds.

Nevada Favored on Sweet 16 Betting Odds

Sweet 16 action opens Thursday with a highly anticipated South Region clash that has the No.7 Nevada Wolf Pack taking on the No.11 Loyola-Chicago Ramblers as 1.5-point favorites.

The Ramblers won the hearts of college basketball fans and courageous bettors with back-to-back last-second victories over No.6 Miami and No.3 Tennessee to earn their first Sweet 16 berth in 33 years. Loyola-Chicago is now unbeaten SU in 12 straight overall, and each of their past four as betting underdogs.

The Wolf Pack are coming off an equally impressive 75-73 win over No.2 Cincinnati as 8.5-point underdogs in Round of 32 action, and are unbeaten SU and ATS in four straight while favored by two or fewer points.

The Villanova Wildcats entered the tournament as strong +600 favorites, and did not disappoint in the early going, topping the Murray State Racers and Marshall Thunder Herd by an average of 20 points in a pair of lopsided wins. However, the Wildcats currently trail Duke at +375 on the 2018 March Madness odds ahead of Friday night’s East Region matchup with No.5 West Virginia as 6-point favorites.

No.5 Kentucky has its sights set on a sixth Elite Eight berth in its past seven tournament appearances as it takes on No.9 Kansas State in a battle of Wildcats squads as 6-point favorites, while No.4 Gonzaga continues its drive towards a second straight national championship game appearance as the Bulldogs battle No.9 Florida State on Thursday night as 6-point favorites.
