Lines Set for Kawhi Leonard NBA Season Props

Kawhi Leonard Prop Odds at Bovada Sportsbook

It may still be July, but it is basketball that is the talk of the town in Toronto since the Raptors pulled the trigger on a blockbuster deal last week that sent DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Pöltl, and a protected 2019 first-round draft pick to the San Antonio Spurs for disgruntled forward Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green.

The arrival of Leonard is expected to address serious defensive deficiencies on a Raptors squad that meekly bowed out of the playoffs last season while getting swept by LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round.

The 27-year-old established his credentials by claiming NBA Finals MVP honors during the Spurs’ run to the NBA championship in 2014, and has twice averaged over 20 points per game in a season, establishing a career high of 25.5 points per game during the 2016/17 campaign.

More of the same is expected from Leonard in his debut season with the Raptors. The 15th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft is pegged as a -120 bet to average OVER 23.5 points per game during the upcoming season on the Kawhi Leonard NBA season props. Toronto has also enjoyed a steady climb on the NBA futures since acquiring Leonard, rocketing to +1200 on the NBA championship odds after opening at a distant +6600, and now trails only the Boston Celtics as a +325 bet to win its first-ever Eastern Conference crown.

Injuries remain a concern for the two-time NBA defensive player of the year looking towards the upcoming season. Leonard appeared in just nine games last year with the Spurs while dealing with a variety of ailments, and has appeared in more than 66 games just twice during his seven-year NBA career.

However, Leonard produced some of the best numbers of his career while playing in just 64 games during the 2014/15 season in San Antonio, racking up a career-best 7.2 rebounds per game and leading all NBA players with 2.3 steals per game.

Rebounds, Assists Props Set For Leonard

The opportunity to play alongside big man Jonas Valanciunas, who led the Raptors with 8.6 rebounds per game last season, could give Leonard a golden opportunity to duplicate those types of numbers. The odds of Leonard averaging OVER 6.5 rebounds per game is pegged at -120 on the Kawhi Leonard performance prop bets.

Leonard has also shown steady progress in developing his playmaking skills, averaging a personal-best 3.5 assists per game during the 2016/17 season, and is a -120 wager on the props to rack up OVER 3.0 assists per game in his first year in Toronto.

While Leonard brings big-time defensive responsibility to Toronto, DeRozan will be expected to be a big offensive contributor in his first season in the Lone Star State. The four-time all-star played a pivotal role in the Raptors’ rise to the top of the Eastern Conference last season, averaging 23.0 points and 5.2 assists per game, and will fill a major hole left by the departure of veteran point guard Tony Parker.

DeRozan is pegged as a -130 bet to rack up OVER 22.5 points per game in 2018/19. However, he joins a Spurs squad that has sagged on the NBA championship odds, dropping to +6600 after opening at a short +2000.
