Johnson, Americans Favorites vs. Europeans on Ryder Cup Odds - Bovada Sportsbook

Dustin Johnson and the betting-favorite American Ryder Cup team will be looking to put an end to a losing streak against their European counterparts this week when the biennial event hits the links at Hazeltine National GC in Chaska, Minnesota.

The Americans are listed as -185 betting favorites against the Europeans (+145) for the Ryder Cup, but they’ll be bucking the trends if they do manage to come away with the victory this week. Europe has won six of the past seven Ryder Cup tournaments dating back to 2002, and they were the Cup winners in each of the last three events in 2010, 2012, and 2014.

In fact, the Americans have only won the Ryder Cup twice in the past two decades – in 1999 and 2008, both times on home soil. The last time the tournament was played in the United States in 2012 the Europeans grabbed a slim 14.5-13.5 victory to retain the Ryder Cup.

Johnson leads the way for the United States this week at No. 2 in the world rankings, with three other golfers in the Top 10 also on the team – Jordan Spieth (No. 4), Patrick Reed (No. 8), and Rickie Fowler (No. 9). Phil Mickelson, Jimmy Walker, Matt Kuchar, J.B. Holmes, Brooks Koepka, Brandt Snedeker, Zach Johnson, and Ryan Moore complete the USA roster.

McIlroy Leads European Squad

Rory McIlroy, fresh off his TOUR Championship and FedEx Cup victories, headlines the European team at No. 3 in the world rankings. Henrik Stenson (No. 5) and Danny Willett (No. 10) are also in the Top 10 heading into the event, with Justin Rose, Sergio Garcia, Rafael Cabrera-Bello, Chris Wood, Thomas Pieters, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Lee Westwood, Martin Kaymer, and Andy Sullivan the rest of the European squad for this year’s Ryder Cup event.

On the Ryder Cup props, Johnson is the +350 favorite on the odds to be the top American player at the tournament. Johnson has played in the Ryder Cup twice in the past, going 4-3-0 over his seven matches. Spieth is at +450 on those betting lines, with Reed set at +600.

McIlroy is the +330 favorite on the odds to be the top European player at this year’s Ryder Cup. McIlroy has played in this event three times in the past, going 6-4-4 in his 14 matches. Rose sits at +550 with Stenson and Garcia both at +600 on the top European player odds.
