Kane Slips on EPL Top Goalscorer Odds

Kane Slips on EPL Top Goalscorer Odds - Bovada Sportsbook

Tottenham’s Harry Kane has been held goalless in three of the club’s past four Premier League matches, including Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Liverpool as a +220 underdog. The Hotspur striker’s brief drought has also knocked him from atop the Premier League top goalscorer odds, where he has slipped to +400.

Kane tallied a hat trick in Tottenham’s 4-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion on January 14, but has found the back of the net just once in his past four contests and now sits tied with Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe for fifth place in EPL scoring with 14 markers this season.

The winner of last season’s Premier League Golden Boot with 25 goals in 38 appearances, Kane stormed out of the gate with seven markers in his first nine games this year. But his recent struggles mirror those of Tottenham Hotspur, which has scored just three total goals during a 1-2-1 run, leaving them deadlocked with Arsenal for second place on the EPL table, 10 points back of first-place Chelsea.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has also struggled in recent weeks with just one goal in his past four appearances, but the Manchester United forward now leads the way in Premier League top goalscorer betting with +350 odds.

Ibrahimovic scored 10 goals over a 10-match stretch starting in early November, but his recent drought leaves him with just 15 goals in 24 appearances, well short of the pace that netted him 38 goals in 31 appearances with Ligue 1’s Paris Saint-Germain a year ago.

Sanchez, Lukaku, Costa Join Favorites

Alexis Sanchez scored a pair for Arsenal in its 2-0 victory over Hull on Saturday as -375 road chalk, giving him an EPL-leading 17 goals on the season, and lifting him alongside Kane, Everton forward Romelu Lukaku, and Chelsea’s Diego Costa on the top goalscorer odds at +400.

Lukaku sits just two shy of the 18 goals he scored all of last season after finding the net four times in the Toffees’ 6-3 beating of Bournemouth earlier this month, while Costa joins Ibrahimovic with 15 markers but has been held off the scoresheet in each of the Blues’ past three matches.

Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero rounds out the front of the pack at +1200, well ahead of Defoe at +2500, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard at +5000, and Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud at +10000, while three scorers are knotted at +15000 including Crystal Palace forward Christian Benteke, and Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.
