Eagles Favorites on Monday Night Football Odds

The Philadelphia Eagles will be looking to post consecutive wins for the first time this season when they host the division-rival Washington Redskins as 6-point favorites on the Monday Night Football betting odds.

Philadelphia is coming off a 25-22 victory over the New York Giants that put the brakes on a two-game slide and kept the team in playoff contention going into Monday night’s matchup at Lincoln Financial Field.

But the Eagles remain in a must-win situation to keep pace with the first-place Dallas Cowboys in the hunt for top spot in the NFC East. With Thursday night’s 13-10 victory over the New Orleans Saints, the Cowboys have moved into sole possession of first place in the division standings with a 7-5 record.

Inconsistency has plagued the Eagles all season long. Philadelphia has compiled a 3-5 straight-up record since opening the season on a 2-1 run, and has also been a massive disappointment to bettors, going 3-8 overall against the spread while failing to cover on the NFL betting odds in each of its past three outings.

A powerhouse at home during last season’s run to their first-ever Super Bowl title, the Eagles have enjoyed little home field advantage during the current campaign, losing three of their past four to bury a 13-1 SU run. Recent dates at Lincoln Financial Field have also been tight-scoring affairs, with four of the past five contests being settled by four or fewer points.

Redskins Dogs on Monday Night Football Odds

The Redskins are also desperate for a victory as they travel to Philadelphia looking to revive their sinking playoff hopes after dropping three of their past four decisions. The early leaders atop the NFC East standings following a 5-2 SU start, the Redskins have struggled to keep pace with the surging Cowboys.

Now sporting a 6-5 SU record, Washington maintains control of the second NFC wild card following losses by the Minnesota Vikings and Carolina Panthers on Sunday afternoon. In addition, with a win on Monday the Redskins can inch past the Cowboys on tiebreakers to reclaim the division lead, at least temporarily.

However, the team has been reeling since losing starting quarterback Alex Smith to a gruesome leg injury during a 23-21 loss to the Houston Texans as 3-point home underdogs two weeks ago.

The Redskins were subsequently toppled from their perch atop the divisional standings with last week’s 31-23 loss in Dallas as 7-point underdogs, with quarterback Colt McCoy tossing three interceptions in his first starting assignment since 2014.

With the defeat, Washington has now surrendered over 30 points in two of four outings, fueling a 3-1 run for the OVER in totals betting and a steady climb by the point total to 45 on the Week 13 odds ahead of Monday night’s contest.

Washington must also overcome a dismal record on Monday Night Football, falling to defeat in 14 of 16 appearances including each of their past six.

The Redskins have failed to cover on the NFL MNF odds in nine of 10, and have fallen to defeat in each of their past three Monday night road dates including a 34-24 loss in Philadelphia as 5-point underdogs in October of last year.
