Duke Favored on Odds to Reach Final Four

2019 March Madness Betting Guide

The Duke Blue Devils put the rest of the nation on notice last week, routing the No. 2 Kentucky Wildcats 118-84 in what was essentially a road game at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

With the win, the team vaulted to No. 1 on the AP Top 25 rankings and has now emerged as a heavy favorite to reach the Final Four at this season’s edition of March Madness, set as a short -150 wager on those NCAA Duke Blue Devils Odds.

The Blue Devils are coming off a disappointing campaign in 2017/18. Pegged as the top-ranked squad in the nation at the start of the season, Duke stormed out of the gate to 11 straight victories. However, the team struggled at times in conference play, settling for a 13-5 SU record against ACC opponents before getting bounced from the NCAA Tournament with an 85-81 loss to Kansas in the Elite Eight.

But after assembling possibly the most impressive class of recruits in college basketball history, the Blue Devils look poised to dominate during the upcoming season, earning them strong +200 odds to claim their first national championship in four years.

Duke’s freshmen superstars showed off their skills in last week’s win over Kentucky as 2-point underdogs. Canadian RJ Barrett led the way, draining 33 points, and forward Zion Williamson added 28 points and seven rebounds, while forward Cam Reddish chipped in with 22 points.

NCAA Duke Odds to Remain Perfect on Season

The youngsters’ performance has created a buzz around the possibility of an undefeated regular season, a feat last achieved by Kentucky in 2015. The Blue Devils are pegged as an attractive +300 wager on the NCAA Duke odds to remain perfect in the regular season ahead of Wednesday night’s matchup with the Eastern Michigan Eagles at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

However, the Blue Devils are not the only powerhouse from the ACC hitting the hardwood this season. The Virginia Cavaliers stunned Duke last January with a 65-63 victory that marked the Blue Devils’ first home defeat of the season. The Cavaliers return to action pegged at No. 4 on the national rankings and as a solid +1200 bet on the national championship odds.

The Blue Devils must also contend with a much improved North Carolina squad, which they will face twice this season, including in their regular-season finale on March 9. The Tar Heels have handed defeats to Duke in four of their past seven meetings, and currently sit alongside the Cavaliers as a +1200 national championship bet. With no advantages to be found on the schedule, the squad is pegged as a short -400 wager on the NCAA Duke Blue Devils betting odds to suffer at least one regular-season loss.

The squad is pegged as an even lengthier bet of marching undefeated to a national championship this season, listed at +700 on the NCAA Duke championship odds. No team has gone undefeated in the regular season and postseason since March Madness expanded to 64 teams in 1985.

This season is expected to be no different, with -1400 odds of the Blue Devils coming up short in their bid for a perfect season.
