Dodgers Sit Atop MLB National League Odds

National League Odds at Bovada Sportsbook

The Los Angeles Dodgers have struggled to play .500 baseball since the end of last month’s All-Star break, but despite maintaining a precarious position on the edge of postseason contention, the Dodgers have emerged as clear favorites to make a return trip to the World Series, sporting +245 odds to win the National League pennant this season.

The Dodgers’ battle with inconsistency comes in stark contrast to a year ago, when the club finished the campaign with 104 wins and the best record in the major leagues

A subsequent march to their first World Series appearance in three decades fueled strong +300 season-opening odds to repeat as NL champions, and the acquisition of slugger Manny Machado in a trade deadline deal with the Baltimore Orioles has helped to keep Los Angeles atop the National League Champion betting odds.

Pegged as +333 favorites on the MLB National League odds at the All-Star break, the Chicago Cubs now trail the Dodgers at +400 despite leading the Senior Circuit with 68 wins.

The Cubs endured a shaky 9-9 start to the season, followed by a dismal 6-11 run in June, but have clawed their way to the top of the NL Central, where they currently hold a three-game lead over second-place Milwaukee, and are perched as heavy -333 favorites to win a third straight divisional title.

Chicago can pad that lead when they open a two-game series against the Brewers on Wednesday as -136 home chalk, but have struggled with consistency during a 12-11 run since the All-Star break.

Brewers Third on Odds to Win the National League

The Brewers sit third on the MLB National League odds at +750, ahead of the Diamondbacks, Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves, who each sport +800 odds, followed by the Washington Nationals at +1200.

Milwaukee fell just one game short of a postseason berth last season, extending their October drought to six years, but entered the week in control of the second NL wild card despite posting a 12-17 record over its past 29 outings.

Arizona has failed to capitalize on the Dodgers’ recent struggles, particularly on home turf, where they own a meagre 9-15 record over their past 24 games. The Diamondbacks also trail Los Angeles on the odds to win the NL West at +260, but still have seven games to play against the Dodgers – contests that could determine this year’s division champions.

The Braves continue to be the surprise story in the National League, maintaining a narrow lead over Philadelphia in the NL East and vaulting to +1500 on the World Series odds after opening the campaign at a distant +17500, while the Phillies look to break out of a 4-10 run on the road that threatens to derail their postseason aspirations.

Further down the odds to win the National League this season, the Rockies join the suddenly resurgent St. Louis Cardinals at +1800, ahead of the Pittsburgh Pirates at +2000, and the San Francisco Giants at +3000, while the Cincinnati Reds trail as distant +50000 longshots.
