Browns Emerge as Favorites on Dez Bryant Odds

Dez Bryant Odds at Bovada Sportsbook

With the countdown rapidly ticking towards the start of the NFL preseason schedule later this week, free agent wide receiver Dez Bryant remains unsigned.

Released by the Dallas Cowboys in mid-April following eight seasons with the club, Bryant was expected to catch on with one of the Cowboys’ NFC East rivals. But after testing the market for over three months, the 2014 NFL receiving touchdowns leader has turned his search elsewhere, with the Cleveland Browns emerging as strong -150 favorites on the odds on which team will sign Dez Bryant.

The Browns are coming off one of the worst seasons in NFL history in 2017, racking up an 0-16 straight up record, while also finishing dead last in team scoring with a meagre 14.63 points per game. The squad has made major personnel changes over the offseason, including adding Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Baker Mayfield with the first pick at this year’s NFL Draft.

The club has also added an array of veterans including receivers Jeff Janis and Travis Landry, but with the return date of troubled receiver Josh Gordon still unknown, the addition of Bryant could give a big lift to the Browns, who linger near the bottom of the Super Bowl odds at +7500.

The past week’s headlines have been largely occupied by news of Bryant’s Twitter outbursts targeted at the Cowboys, including his treatment during his final season in Dallas, and the way in which he was cut by the team.

However, Bryant’s online outrage has not dampened the interest of other teams in acquiring his services, with the New York Giants trailing the Browns at +450, just ahead of the Tennessee Titans at +500 on the Dez Bryant next NFL team odds.

Giants a Preferred Dez Bryant Destination?

The Giants were mentioned as one of Bryant’s preferred destinations following his release by the Cowboys. Like the Browns, New York is looking to rebound from a dismal 3-13 campaign in 2017, which they finished without the services of receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who was limited to just four games by an ankle injury.

New York remains a distant +600 bet to win the NFC East in 2018 despite the addition of rusher Saquon Barkley, who they added with the second overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. However, there remains little indication that the Giants are close to a deal with Bryant after rejecting the idea of signing him earlier this spring.

The Titans are a team looking to take the next step after reaching the playoffs for the first time in nine years last season. However, the team sits as a +155 longshot to return to the postseason in 2018, and could use help bolstering their receiving offense, which ranked 30th in the NFL with just 14 touchdowns last season. Tennessee’s woes are further complicated by the undisclosed injury that has hobbled receiver Rishard Matthews since the spring.

Further down the Dez Bryant odds, the Houston Texans sit at +800, ahead of the Washington Redskins and Green Bay Packers, who sit knotted at +1200, the New England Patriots at +1400, and the San Francisco 49ers at +1500, while the New Orleans Saints join the Atlanta Falcons as +3000 longshots.
