Cowboys are Underdogs Against Packers

Packers favored over Cowboys Sunday Night Football Betting Odds

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay are 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS in last five games vs. Dallas.

The experience of Aaron Rodgers might prevail over Dak Prescott’s youth when the Green Bay Packers host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday – at least based on the point spread. The Packers are listed as the four-point favorite against the Cowboys, with the total at 47.5.

Green Bay is 5-0 straight-up and 4-1 against the spread in their last five games against Dallas. Rodgers’ playmaking and ability to make virtually any throw is renowned, but the star QB actually has the NFL’s lowest completion percentage since the start of 2015.

Whether targets beyond WR Jordy Nelson will be able to separate from Dallas defenders is a concern for Green Bay, especially since ailing TE Jared Cook (high ankle sprain) will not play.

The Packers are 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 October games, but sustaining that success probably involves a healthy team. Running back Eddie Lacy (ankle) is also hobbled.

Dallas beat the Cincinnati Bengals decisively in Week 5, and is 6-2 SU in its last eight games after winning as an underdog. However, Dallas is 0-5-1 ATS in its last six games against teams with winning records.

The rookie Prescott will be facing a defense that already has 14 sacks in five games. Green Bay has good, if not great pass coverage so long as CB Sam Shields (concussion) remains out of the lineup. Star Dallas WR Dez Bryant might play.

Elliot to Face Packer’s Run Defense

Much has been made of RB Ezekiel Elliott facing the Packers’ No. 1 run defense, with NT Letroy Guion and DT Mike Daniels occupying blockers to free up the likes of MLB Blake Martinez.

That league-low 42.8 rushing yards against Green Bay has been built against Jacksonville, Minnesota, Detroit and the New York Giants – all teams which struggle in the rushing phase and have also dealt with an injury to their best ball carrier. Elliott has an excellent blocking group with the likes of C Travis Frederick and RG Zack Martin.

The total has gone UNDER in seven of the Cowboys’ last 10 games. The total has gone UNDER in 10 of the Packers’ last 11 games after a win.
