Chargers, Kessler in Week 13 NFL Odds Spotlight

Bet on Sunday Night Football kickoff between the Steelers and the Patriots

The Los Angeles Chargers will be looking to stay in the hunt for top spot in the AFC West standings when they travel to Pittsburgh this week to battle the Steelers on Sunday Night Football as 3.5-point underdogs on the Week 13 NFL betting odds.

Los Angeles is coming off a lopsided 45-10 victory over Arizona, lifting the team to just one game back of the Kansas City Chiefs in the division standings with an 8-3-0 record going into Sunday night’s matchup at Heinz Field.

With their win over the Cardinals as lofty 14-point home favorites the Chargers have now claimed straight-up victories in seven of their past eight outings to seize control of the top wild card in the AFC and climb to a +1400 wager on the Super Bowl odds.

The Steelers return home as betting favorites on the Week 13 NFL odds after dropping a 24-17 decision in Denver last weekend as 3-point chalk. The loss ended a six-game SU win streak, but Pittsburgh sits atop the AFC North standings with a 7-3-1 record and ahead of the Chargers on the Super Bowl odds at +1000.

Pittsburgh has surrendered fewer than 19 points per game during a three-game SU surge on home turf. The Steelers have also historically dominated the Chargers when these two teams meet, posting SU wins in 14 of 18 dates since 1988, but dropped a 34-24 decision as 7-point chalk when the Chargers last visited in 2012.

Jaguars, Kessler on Week 13 NFL Betting Odds

While the Chargers and Steelers jockey for playoff positioning, the Jacksonville Jaguars prepare to start the post-Blake Bortles era as they host the streaking Indianapolis Colts as 5-point underdogs on the NFL betting odds.

After leading the Jaguars to a seventh straight defeat in last weekend’s 24-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills as 3-point road favorites, Bortles was stripped of his duties as the squad’s starting quarterback this week, and has been pegged as a short -300 bet to not to be the team’s starter in Game 1 of next season.

The task of leading the Jaguars on a strong stretch run now falls to Cody Kessler, who will be under center in Sunday’s clash with Indianapolis. The third-year passer out of USC faces a daunting task to kickstart a Jacksonville offense that has scored 18 or fewer points in six of the team’s past nine outings. Despite those offensive struggles, the Jaguars look to Week 13 listed as a -120 wager to score OVER 21.5 points against the Colts on the NFL prop bets.

However, Kessler has struggled to find the end zone consistently during his brief NFL career. The 24-year-old has tossed more than one scoring pass in just one of 13 career appearances, leaving him as a -170 favorite to throw for UNDER 1.5 touchdowns. Kessler also sports -120 odds of completing UNDER 21.5 pass attempts in Week 13.

As well, Kessler is tagged as a -165 wager to throw at least one interception against the Colts despite tossing just four career picks since making his debut with the Cleveland Browns in 2016.
