Chargers, Eagles Underdogs on Sunday NFL Odds

Bet on NFL Playoff Odds at Bovada

The Los Angeles Chargers will be aiming for their first victory in New England since October 2005 when they take on the Patriots on Sunday in an AFC Divisional Playoff clash as 4-point underdogs on the NFL betting odds.

Los Angeles claimed a berth in the second round of this year’s NFL playoffs after holding off the Baltimore Ravens for a 23-17 victory on Wild Card Weekend, extending the team’s straight-up win streak on the road to six going into Sunday’s matchup at Gillette Stadium.

The Chargers emerged as one of the NFL’s most consistent teams this season, avoiding consecutive defeats while closing out their schedule alongside Kansas City with a 12-4 record. But after coming up short on tiebreakers, Los Angeles tumbled to the AFC’s No. 5 seed, denying the squad a home date during at least the first two rounds of the postseason.

The Chargers have produced mixed results historically in playoff road games. Last weekend’s win over the Ravens as 3-point underdogs in NFL football betting halted a 1-3 SU run over their past four postseason road dates. Los Angeles is also winless SU in four straight Divisional Playoff matchups on the road, but is 6-1 against the spread in its past seven playoff road games since 1993.

The Patriots hit the field on Sunday in search of an eighth straight playoff victory on home field. New England is also undefeated in 15 overall home contests, and has dominated the Chargers. The Patriots are 7-1 SU over eight meetings with the Chargers since 2005 including playoff victories in 2007 and 2008.

Saints Heavy Favorites vs. Eagles on NFL Odds

Later on Sunday, the New Orleans Saints look for a fifth win in six dates with Philadelphia as they host the Eagles as heavy 8-point chalk on the NFL betting odds.

The Saints emerged as the class of the NFL this season, powering to the top of the NFC  standings with a 13-3 record, and enter the second round of NFL playoff action as +250 favorites on the Super Bowl odds.

However, New Orleans struggled to reward bettors down the stretch, going 1-4 ATS over its final five contests, capped by a 33-14 loss to Carolina in a meaningless season finale to fall to 6-2 SU on home turf this season.

New Orleans also struggled to produce offense at times during its stretch run, scoring 14 or fewer points in three of its final five outings, but scored 31 or more points in seven of eight home dates this season.

The Saints’ vaunted offense will be put to the test against an Eagles squad coming off a 16-15 Wild Card victory over the Chicago Bears as 6.5-point road underdogs on the NFL odds.

Philadelphia’s win over the third-seeded Bears came on the heels of 24-0 blanking of the Washington Redskins as 6-point road chalk in Week 17, and marked the fourth time this season the Eagles have limited a road opponent to 18 or fewer points. However, the Eagles were humiliated in a crushing 48-7 loss in New Orleans in Week 11, and trail as a distant +1300 wager to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
