Real Madrid Favorite to Advance to Final

Real Madrid will be aiming to clinch its second berth in the UEFA Champions League final in three years when it hits the pitch for the second leg of its semi-final matchup with Atletico Madrid as a +150 road favorite on Wednesday.

Powered by a Cristiano Ronaldo hat trick, Los Blancos claimed a stunning 3-0 victory as -130 home chalk in last week’s first leg and are now perched as heavy -10000 favorites to advance to this year’s final going into Wednesday afternoon’s matchup at Vicente Calderon Stadium.

Last week’s victory extends Real’s current unbeaten streak in Champions League action to 15 matches dating back to the quarter-finals of last season, and also marks their first UCL clean sheet win in 13 outings.

Real rides a four-match win streak in all competitions, including a 4-0 win over Granada as a massive -1000 favorite in Primera Division action last weekend. Los Blancos dominated Granada while resting Ronaldo, who has regularly been held out of road games against La Liga opponents this season.

The strategy looks to have paid off as the Portuguese star now trails only Lionel Messi among UCL goalscorers with 10 markers, and is an intriguing +2000 bet to tally another hat trick in Wednesday’s match.

Atletico Has to Overcome a Huge Deficit

It was a disappointing first-leg match for Atletico, which came up short in its efforts to avenge a heartbreaking loss on penalties to Real in last year’s Champions League final. Los Colchoneros now face the daunting task of overcoming a 3-0 deficit against a Real squad that has not lost a match by three goals since dropping a 3-0 decision to Cadiz in the 2015 Copa del Rey.

Atletico has also turned in some uneven results in recent matches, going 2-0-2 in its past four games in all competitions, and has tallied more than one goal just once in its past six matches, including a surprisingly narrow 1-0 win over Eibar as -303 road chalk in a Primera Division matchup over the weekend.

Los Colchoneros have posted just one victory in their last eight meetings with their crosstown rivals, and are winless in five all-time meetings with Real in Champions League action while getting outscored by a 9-2 margin.

With its 2-1 victory as -150 chalk in the second leg of their semi-final matchup with AS Monaco, Juventus advanced to the Champions League final for the second time in four years. However, Real Madrid remains a -125 favorite to repeat as UCL champion, followed by Juve at Even odds, while Atletico trails as a distant +5000 underdog.
