Real Madrid Favored on Champions League Final Odds

Real Madrid Favored on Champions League Final Odds - Bovada Sportsbook

Real Madrid will have its sights set on a third straight UEFA Champions League title when they take on Liverpool FC in this year’s tournament final as a -140 favorite on the 2018 Champions League Final betting lines.

Los Blancos punched their ticket to the tournament final for a fourth time in five years after battling Bayern Munich to a 2-2 draw as +130 favorites in the second leg of the UCL semi-final clash on May 1, clinching a 4-3 aggregate win over the reigning Bundesliga champions and setting the stage for a matchup with Liverpool on May 26 at NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kiev, Ukraine.

Despite their semi-final victory over Bayern, Real has struggled to find consistency in recent weeks, posting wins in just three of eight matches across all competitions including a middling 1-1-1 record in their past three Champions League matches.

The club’s checkered record coincides with a dip in offensive production, with Real shooters potting just 1.63 goals per match over their past eight outings after averaging 3.25 goals per match in their previous 12 contests.

Real has also played opponents to draws in four of their past eight outings, a trend that could fuel interest in a +255 wager on the draw. However, Real’s offensive challenges have had little impact on totals betting, with the total in this year’s final set at 3.0, and the OVER favored with short -135 odds.

Liverpool Trails on Odds to Win the UEFA Champions League Final

While Real Madrid renews its annual pilgrimage to the UCL final, Liverpool makes its first appearance since 2007 sporting +115 Champions League final odds.

The Reds stormed to a 5-2 win in the first leg of their semi-final matchup with AS Roma, but have struggled since, going winless in three matches across all competitions including a 4-2 loss to the Italian side as narrow +140 chalk in their second leg tilt on May 2.

Liverpool also dropped a 1-0 decision to Chelsea FC as +220 road underdogs in Premier League action this past weekend, continuing the club’s recent shaky play on the road that has seen them produce just two wins in their past eight away from Anfield, including two goalless performances.

However, the Reds have enjoyed an impressive run this season, which marks their first appearance in the Champions League since 2014. The club went unbeaten in 13 matches ahead of their second-leg loss to AS Roma, including a 4-2-0 mark on the road, highlighted by lopsided clean sheet wins over Maribor and Porto.

Liverpool also enjoys a lengthy winning tradition in Champions League and European Cup finals, raising the hardware in five of seven all-time appearances, including a narrow 1-0 win over Real Madrid in 1981. The Reds also dominated in a Round of 16 matchup with Real during the 2009 Champions League, crushing Los Blancos by a 5-0 aggregate score.

However, it was all Madrid the last time these squads met in UCL action four years ago, with Real bouncing the Reds from group stage action with a pair of clean sheet victories.
