As we’ve reached the final week of the NHL regular season, there are still a few teams whose fate are yet to be determined. Amongst the teams in the East who have yet to clinch a playoff spot (or be eliminated from contention) include the Washington Capitals, NY Islanders, NY Rangers, Ottawa Senators, and Winnipeg Jets. Teams on the bubble in the West include the Minnesota Wild, Columbus Blue Jackets, Detroit Red Wings, and Dallas Stars. San Jose and St. Louis have yet to mathematically clinch, but barring a miracle, they will be there next week when the playoffs begin.
Let’s start with the... Read More

Well it feels like just yesterday that the San Francisco Giants were storming the field in celebration of their World Series victory, but the offseason has passed and spring training is nearing its end as teams gear up for the start of the 2013 MLB season.
With the season approaching, I figured it would be a great time to give my pre-season predictions for what lies ahead. If last season was any indication, then we’re in for a dandy this year, with many teams making big moves in the offseason to bolster their rosters.

So the NHL season has just passed its halfway mark, and I thought it would be fun to revisit some of my pre-season predictions to see how far off I was (or wasn’t hopefully) and also maybe switch a few of them up. Can we just note how entertaining this season has been; the shortened schedule really brings a playoff type atmosphere to every game (well maybe unless you’re playing the Panthers).

So the lights are officially out on the NFL season (no pun intended – New Orleans SB blackout). I would firstly like to congratulate the Baltimore Ravens, they played great when they needed to and got the job done. This year was considered by many, as the year of the rookies (quarterbacks to be precise). For the first time in NFL history, three rookie QBs led their teams to the postseason, and did so in style.
Indianapolis did well in drafting Andrew Luck first overall. The kid led his team to an 11-5 finish (remarkable considering they won a league-low two games last year), while passing for... Read More

After 113 days of suffering for hockey fans, the NHL lockout finally came to an end this week in the hopes of salvaging an abbreviated season. For the first time in over 15 years, the NHL schedule will consist of less than 82 games (disregarding the ‘04-‘05 lockout that saw 0 games played).
So what does a 48-game schedule mean for hockey fans? Well for purists, it probably means disappointment as they’ll probably forever put an asterisk on this season. I agree to a certain extent; hockey is meant to be a long distance run and not a sprint. It’s supposed to a true test of mental strength and... Read More
