Predators Clear Favorites on 2018 Stanley Cup Odds

Predators Clear Favorites on 2018 Stanley Cup Odds - Bovada Sportsbook

After finishing the regular season atop the NHL standings, the Nashville Predators prepare to begin the march towards their first-ever Stanley Cup championship as +375 favorites on the NHL playoff odds.

The Predators emerged as the elite of the Western Conference during an impressive 14-0-1 run that started in mid-February, and are pegged as heavy -560 favorites on the NHL series odds in their opening-round clash with Colorado.

Nashville has posted wins in just five of 10 outings ahead of Thursday night’s matchup at Bridgestone Arena. However, the Predators have dominated with 13 wins in their past 15 playoff dates on home ice, and have claimed victory in 10 straight meetings with Colorado, dating back to January 2016.

The Avalanche survived a dismal 3-5-1 run over their final nine games to clinch the second wild card in the West, and sit alongside the New Jersey Devils at +3300 on the 2018 Stanley Cup odds. Colorado has staged an impressive about-face after winning just 22 games a year ago, but is the longest underdog on the NHL series prices in the opening round at +350.

Over in the Eastern Conference, the Tampa Bay Lightning backed into the top seed on the strength of Boston’s 4-2 loss to Florida as -312 home chalk on Sunday night, but will open their first-round clash with the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night trailing the Bruins at +600 on the NHL futures.

The Lightning stormed out of the gate, and to the top of the NHL standings, with 14 wins in their first 19 outings and spent much of the campaign perched atop the 2018 Stanley Cup odds. Late-season struggles toppled Tampa Bay from the top of the odds, and left them in a tight battle with the Bruins for top spot in both the Eastern Conference and Atlantic Division.

However, the Bolts take on the Devils as a solid -330 bet on the NHL playoffs series prices.

Powered by winger Taylor Hall’s breakthrough 93-point campaign, the Devils make their first NHL playoff appearance since 2012 as +265 longshots to knock off the high-powered Lightning, but cannot be taken lightly after posting wins in four of their past five meetings with Tampa Bay.

Bruins Betting Favorites Taking on Maple Leafs

The Bruins have exceeded many expectations during an impressive 112-point campaign, but may have given themselves a tougher road with Sunday’s loss to the Panthers, which set the stage for a first-round clash with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Boston is pegged as a -140 favorite to advance past the Maple Leafs. However the Bruins have made early exits in their past two playoff appearances and are winless in four straight playoff games on home ice. Boston also owns a worrisome 1-7-0 record in eight dates with the Maple Leafs, who return to postseason action as a +1100 bet on the Stanley Cup odds.

The Vegas Golden Knights struggled with consistency down the stretch, but maintain solid +750 odds in Stanley Cup betting, followed by the Winnipeg Jets at +800, and the defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins at +1000, while the Metropolitan Division champion Washington Capitals join Toronto at +1100.
