Capitals Underdogs on the Stanley Cup Final Odds

2018 Odds To Win The Stanley Cup `

The Washington Capitals have their sights set on spoiling the party in Las Vegas as they prepare to battle the Vegas Golden Knights in their first appearance in the Stanley Cup final since 1998 as +110 underdogs on the series prices on the 2018 Stanley Cup odds.

The Capitals continued their run to the final with a pair of huge character wins over Tampa Bay in the Eastern Conference final. Washington handed the Lightning a pair of shutout losses to overcome a 3-2 series deficit, capped by a 4-0 win in Game 7 as a +121 road underdog that lifted the club’s road record this spring to 8-2 heading into Monday night.

Washington’s playoff march turns the page on the club’s dismal playoff record since its lone previous appearance in the Stanley Cup final 20 years ago. Prior to this season, the Capitals bowed out of the postseason during the first two rounds in 12 straight appearances.

The Capitals have also endured seven heartbreaking Game 7 losses since Alex Ovechkin joined the club in 2005. However, the Russian superstar has played a central role in this spring’s playoff success, compiling 22 points in 19 games including a pair of crucial game-winning goals.

Goaltender Braden Holtby has also risen to the occasion. The 28-year-old veteran overcame shaky performances in three straight losses to the Lightning in the conference finals, rebounding with a pair of shutout victories in Games 6 and 7.

Vegas Atop Odds to Win the Stanley Cup

However, the Golden Knights ride a wave of momentum as they make their historic debut in the final as -130 favorites on the odds to win the Stanley Cup.

While the Capitals have emerged as road warriors, with wins in 15 of 18 games away from Capitol One Arena since March 8, Vegas has been equally dominant at home, going 11-2 over its past 13, including a sparkling 7-1 record during the playoffs.

Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has been the difference maker for Vegas this postseason, backstopping the club to four shutout victories as they look to pay out on the Stanley Cup final odds.

While these two clubs have only met twice before, with Vegas picking up the win in each of those contests, Fleury has faced the Capitals on 36 previous occasions as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, going 22-12-2 during that stretch including an 8-6 record with one shutout in 14 previous playoff dates with Washington.

Despite the recent stingy performances by both Fleury and Holtby, both netminders face underdog +160 odds in Stanley Cup betting of turning in a shutout in the final, while Ovechkin is pegged as a -115 bet to tally OVER 6.5 points in the series.

Vegas is also expected to draw first blood in Monday’s Game 1 matchup. The Golden Knights are set as -140 favorites on the game line odds, while the Capitals trail as +120 underdogs.
