Dodgers Top 2018 National League Champion Odds

Dodgers Top 2018 National League Champion Odds - Bovada Sportsbook

The Los Angeles Dodgers led the majors with 104 regular-season wins last year, ahead of their first World Series appearance in 29 years, and now prepare for the upcoming campaign as strong +270 favorites to repeat as National League champions on the MLB futures odds.

The Dodgers climbed to the top of the standings, and the World Series odds, during a torrid 52-10 midseason run in 2017, but failed to tally consecutive wins while falling in seven games to the Houston Astros in last year’s Fall Classic.

Los Angeles returns to action with its starting lineup largely intact. Cody Bellinger looks to build on a 39 home run performance at the plate that garnered him NL Rookie of the Year honors. On the hill, Clayton Kershaw vies for a fourth career Cy Young Award, while closer Kenley Jansen will be aiming to save 40 games for the fourth time in five years.

The Washington Nationals and Chicago Cubs closely trail the Dodgers at +375 on the 2018 National League champion odds, while the St. Louis Cardinals lag at +900.

The Nationals have dominated the NL East in recent years, claiming the divisional crown in four of the past six seasons, and topped the standings in 2017 by a whopping 20-game margin. However, success in October has eluded Washington, which has failed to advance past the NLDS in its four recent postseason appearances, and it currently trails the favorites on the World Series odds at +900.

The Cubs took a step back last season after ending a 108-year World Series drought in 2016. Chicago’s 92 wins proved to be enough to win a second straight NL Central title, but the club was outclassed in an NLCS loss to the Dodgers in five games.

Cardinals Trail on 2018 National League Futures

Winners of just 83 games last season, the Cardinals uncharacteristically missed the postseason for a second year in a row, and came up short in their bid to land NL home run king Giancarlo Stanton during the offseason. While the jury is out on a number of personnel changes made over the winter, both on the mound and in the outfield, the Cardinals maintain strong +325 odds of returning to the top of the NL Central for the fourth time in six years.

Further down the 2018 National League Champion odds, the San Francisco Giants are listed at +1000, followed by the Arizona Diamondbacks, New York Mets, and Milwaukee Brewers, who sit deadlocked at +1200; Milwaukee, for their part, aim to end a seven-year postseason drought.

The Giants amassed a league-worst 64-98 record in 2017, but should benefit from a number of offseason moves, most notably the acquisition of outfielder Andrew McCutchen and third baseman Evan Longoria.

The Diamondbacks lifted their win total by 24 games over 2016, posting 93 victories to claim the top NL wild card, and join the Giants as a +600 bet on the 2018 MLB National League odds to earn their first NL West title in seven years.

The Mets are coming off a disappointing 70-92 campaign, but beefed up at the plate with the offseason addition of sluggers Jay Bruce and Todd Frazier, while the Brewers look to build on last season’s 86-win performance.
