Taylor Leads Race Atop 2018 Heisman Odds - Bovada Sportsbook

It remains a tight four-way race atop the 2018 Heisman Trophy odds as college football programs prepare to hit the gridiron for spring camp, with Wisconsin Badgers running back Jonathan Taylor inching ahead as a narrow +600 favorite.

It has been a steady climb up the odds for Taylor, who opened the offseason trailing at +800 before quickly pulling alongside Ohio State rusher JK Dobbins at +600. The 19-year-old is coming off a standout freshman season at Wisconsin. Taylor ranked third in the nation with 1,977 rushing yards, and carried the ball for 13 touchdowns while leading the Badgers to their first undefeated regular season against conference opponents in modern history.

A +1200 wager on the opening 2018 Heisman odds, Dobbins remains close on Taylor’s heels at +650, just ahead of Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and Stanford rusher Bryce Love, who sit deadlocked at +700.

Dobbins set a new Buckeyes freshman record last season with 1,277 rushing yards, including a 174-yard performance in OSU’s Big Ten Championship Game win over Wisconsin.

After opening as a +700 favorite, Love has held steady on the odds to win the Heisman Trophy. The 20-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in his junior year, scampering for over 100 yards in all but one of 13 appearances to finish the season with 2,118 yards and 19 scores.

The hero of the Crimson Tide’s stunning 26-23 comeback victory over Georgia in this year’s national championship game, Tagovailoa has also been a fixture at +700 in recent weeks, an improvement on the +900 odds he sported after garnering College Football Playoff National Championship Offensive MVP honors.

Fromm, Tate Follow on 2018 Heisman Trophy Odds

Further down the 2018 Heisman Trophy odds, Bulldogs passer Jake Fromm and Arizona Wildcats pivot Khalil Tate remain unchanged at +1200 and +1400, respectively, while Auburn Tigers quarterback Jarrett Stidham maintains the +1600 odds he has held since early February.

However, there has been plenty of movement in the middle of the pack in recent weeks, most notably the emergence of Dwayne Haskins, who failed to make the board on the opening Heisman odds but now sits at +2200.

Haskins impressed last season while serving as backup to Buckeyes starting quarterback JT Barrett, completing 40 of 57 pass attempts for four touchdowns and 565 yards. The red-shirt freshman made headlines by stepping in for an injured Barrett and leading the Buckeyes to a 31-20 comeback victory over Michigan in the squad’s regular-season finale, and has emerged as the leading candidate to take over the OSU starter reins next season.

Bulldogs running back D’Andre Swift has also made significant gains in recent weeks, climbing to +2800 after opening at a distant +3500. The diminutive rusher moved the ball for an average of 7.6 yards per carry, and capped an impressive freshman campaign by exploding for a 64-yard scoring run that sealed Georgia’s 28-7 victory over Auburn in the SEC Championship Game.

Conversely, North Carolina State quarterback Ryan Finley has seen his position on the 2018 Heisman Trophy odds eroded in recent weeks. Finley opened at +2500 after leading the Wolfpack to a respectable second-place finish in the ACC Atlantic Division last season, but has since tumbled to a long +4400.
