Justify Headlines the 2018 Belmont Stakes Odds

Justify Headlines the 2018 Belmont Stakes Odds - Bovada Sportsbook

Not even the fog could stop Justify as he galloped to a narrow victory in last weekend’s Preakness Stakes to pay out on short 11/25 odds. The Bob-Baffert trained colt remained undefeated with his narrow victory by a half-length over second-place Bravazo on a sloppy track at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland.

Justify followed up a dominating performance in the Santa Anita Derby with a muddy run to victory three weeks ago in the Kentucky Derby by 2.5 lengths, and is now set as a 1/1 favorite on the odds to win the Belmont Stakes, and become the first Triple Crown winner since another Baffert-trained colt, American Pharoah, accomplished the feat in 2015.

Bravazo’s second-place finish as a lengthy 20/1 bet on the Preakness Stakes odds marks another step forward for the Wayne Lukas-trained colt after powering to a sixth-place finish as a 75/1 wager at Churchill Downs. However, Bravazo continues to lag behind the top of the 2018 Belmont Stakes odds, sitting at 9/1.

It was a disappointing Saturday afternoon at Pimlico for Good Magic, who ran neck-and neck with Justify until fading to a fourth-place finish as a 3/1 wager. However, Tenfold turned in an impressive performance after missing the Kentucky Derby, moving past Good Magic down the stretch to claim third place while listed at 35/1 in Preakness Stakes betting.

Tenfold’s strong performance has given the Seattle Slew descendant a lift on the Belmont Stakes betting odds, set at 11/1. Conversely, Good Magic has seen his odds dip to 6/1 ahead of the 150th running of the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 9 at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York.

Audible Contender on Odds to Win the Belmont Stakes

But all top-four finishers in the Preakness Stakes will face a serious threat in the Belmont Stakes from Audible, who will make the trip to New York as a second favorite sporting 5/1 odds.

Despite turning in a solid third-place finish at Churchill Downs as a 7/1 bet on the Kentucky Derby odds, trainer Todd Pletcher made the decision to rest Audible last weekend in preparation for the Belmont Stakes.

Audible produced four straight victories prior to coming up short in the Run for the Roses, including a stretch-run victory in this year’s Florida Derby, and a crushing victory by five lengths in the Holy Bull Stakes.

Pletcher has also enjoyed plenty of past success in the Belmont Stakes, with three previous entries reaching the winner’s circle, including a year ago when Tapwrit stormed to victory, paying out on long 15/2 odds.

Several other competitors from this year’s Kentucky Derby are also represented on the 2018 Belmont Stakes odds.

A seventh-place finisher in the Kentucky Derby, Hofburg looks toward the Belmont Stakes trailing Good Magic at 7/1, while My Boy Jack is pegged at 8/1 after running fifth at Churchill Downs.

Blended Citizen ran to victory at Belmont Park in his last outing in this year’s Peter Pan Stakes, and trails at 12/1, followed by Vino Rosso at 20/1, Solomini at 16/1, Machismo and Instilled Regard at 33/1.

A 16th-place finisher in the Kentucky Derby, Free Drop Billy is listed at a distant 50/1 in Belmont Stakes betting, while Gronkowski trails as a 69/1 longshot.
