Federer, Nadal Dominate on US Open Odds

Bet on the French Open at Bovada

Roger Federer will be gunning for his third grand slam title of 2017 when he takes the court next week at the 2017 US Open as a strong +125 favorite on the betting lines.

Federer returns to action after withdrawing from the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati earlier this month, a move that leaves him stalled at No. 3 in the world rankings going into first-round betting action at the 137th edition of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York.

The 36-year-old has enjoyed a renaissance campaign in 2017, recording five tournament victories including a five-round victory over rival Rafael Nadal in the finals of the Australian Open, which he entered at a long +1600. Federer followed up with his eighth career win at Wimbledon as +200 chalk, but was forced to bow out in Cincinnati due to a back injury.

After ascending to the top of the world rankings with a win in Cincinnati, Nadal travels to the Big Apple closely trailing Federer at +250 on the US Open odds. The 31-year-old Spaniard now has four tournament titles on the season, including a record 10th victory at Roland-Garros as -125 chalk. However, Nadal has not claimed victory in Queens since 2013, and has failed to advance past the third round in his past two US Open appearances.

Murray, Zverev, Kyrgios Follow on Odds

Andy Murray rounds out the top of the odds, joining rising star Alexander Zverev at +700, followed by Nick Kyrgios at +1400, and Martin Cilic, who sits knotted with Grigor Dimitrov at +1600.

It has been a difficult season for the formerly top-ranked Murray, who has tallied just one tournament win on the season, a victory at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, and reached the semi-finals at just one event since. Murray has also not advanced beyond the quarter-finals in four straight US Open appearances, and has not reached the finals of a grand slam tournament since his victory at Wimbledon last year.

Zverev has emerged as a bona fide star with five tournament victories this year, lifting the 20-year-old to No. 6 on the world rankings. However, Zverev has yet to enjoy a grand slam breakthrough, making early exits in each of his nine career grand slam tournament appearances.

Further down the odds, Canada’s Milos Raonic hopes to be fully recovered from a wrist injury that forced his early withdrawal from Cincinnati and sports at +2000 odds, tied with Dominic Thiem and Juan Martin Del Potro, also at +2000.
