FC Dallas, LA Galaxy Climb MLS Cup Odds

New 2017 MLS Cup online betting odds - Bovada Sportsbook

A fast start to the MLS season is paying early dividends for FC Dallas. After going undefeated over their first four regular-season matches, the Toros have climbed to the top of the MLS Cup odds, joining the Los Angeles Galaxy as +700 co-favorites.

FC Dallas opened its MLS campaign with competitive +800 odds, and is coming off a 2-0 win over the expansion Minnesota United as -260 chalk last Saturday that lifted the club to 3-0-1 and into sole possession of second place in the Western Conference going into Friday night’s  matchup against the San Jose Earthquakes at Avaya Stadium.

The Toros led MLS with 17 regular-season wins in 2016 to repeat as Western Conference champions, but have failed to advance further than the conference finals in four postseason appearances since making their sole MLS Cup Final appearance in 2010.

Los Angeles has taken a step back on the MLS Cup odds since opening the season at a strong +600. The Galaxy have stumbled to a middling 2-3-0 start, including a 2-1 loss to Dallas as +130 chalk in their home opener.

Red Bulls Fall From Top of the Odds

The New York Red Bulls opened the season as +500 favorites to claim their first MLS Cup crown, but a 2-3-1 start leaves them below the line on the Eastern Conference table, and currently knotted with Toronto FC at a diminished +800.

Toronto FC exploded for 17 total goals in five postseason matches last fall to clinch their first-ever MLS Cup berth. The Reds have failed to rekindle their offensive magic thus far this season, tallying just six total goals in five outings while compiling a disappointing 1-0-4 record.

The Seattle Sounders have posted just one win in five matches to date this season, but the defending MLS Cup champions remain unbeaten in 14 straight home fixtures dating back to July of last year, and join the Portland Timbers at +900.

Sporting an MLS-best 4-1-1 record, the Timbers have been the biggest movers on the MLS futures since opening at distant +2200 odds. New York City FC is also on the march, climbing from +1400 to +1100, ahead of the expansion Atlanta United at +1200, while the Eastern Conference-leading Columbus Crew have jumped from +2500 to an attractive +1400.

The struggling Colorado Rapids have tumbled from +1000 to +1600, and Sporting Kansas City has dipped from +1400 to +1800 despite going undefeated through five matches, while the addition of German legend Bastian Schweinsteiger has boosted the Chicago Fire to +2000.
